Like I've already mentioned everywhere except here on LJ, I bought (won) myself a DSi from an online auction site and collected the console from the nearest post office last week. It really was a true bargain! It only cost me around 160 euros (can't be arsed to remember the exact number with the shipping included) and with it came two games, Pokemon Platinum and Megaman something, two of those pen kind of things you poke the screen with every now and then when the game you're playing requires so, charger and memory card. I was a little worried whether all the items would be in a good condition seeing how cheap the whole set was, but they're near mint. I'm so happy I happened to stumble across with that auction. ♥ I luvles my new DSi.
Anyway, I've got three games for it at present, the two that came with it and Scribblenauts that I'd had my eyes on ever since I read a review of it last year. Frankly as I haven't much free time right now and because I don't like to start and play many games concurrently, I've only started one of them, Pokemon Platinum. I named my girl trainer Karri even though my mom told me Karri is considered a masculine name in Finland. It has always sounded like a feminine name to me, though, and since I like to mix names by giving feminine names that sound kind of masculine to male characters and vice versa, I decided to keep that name for her anyways. Currently my party consists of Noel, my grass starter turtwig, Shinji (luxio, electric), Tay (ponyta, fire), Lum (staravia, fly), Kazza (Abra, psych) and newly included Ariel (buneary, normal). I'm deliberately playing this game more "consciously" giving nicknames to my pokemon and stuff because I like the idea of people creating their own pokemon trainer characters with their own special teams. Usually I don't have great troubles with forming my party and sticking with it as normally my party just forms uncosciously on its own, but now I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place.
Before Ariel an onix named Basalt was part of my, or well, Karri's team and I got, surprisingly, very fond of him. I've never really even liked onixes that much before, but according to Basalt's summary information he's quiet but yet mischievious by nature and the notion of an onix like that melts my heart. ;_; I mean, come on! An impish onix! However, after finally cathing a buneary I wanted it to be part of my team as well (even though I kind of don't like his hasty, defiant nature). So, I stored Basalt to the PC because he was pretty much the only one I could afford to withdraw and welcomed Ariel to my team. Now, however, I'm thinking of retrieving Basalt back and withdrawing Kazza to the PC. He's really useless although so damn cute, which is why I'd like to have an abra in my team if possible. >: I mean, they can be pretty strong too with their psychic powers, but Kazza's already on level 18 and he still doesn't know any other moves than teleport. I suppose abras don't even learn many moves to begin with but would start learning more when they evolve, but I don't want a kadabra, so I won't let Kazza evolve. Hence, he stays pretty useless until I get more TMs I can teach to him and thus I could switch him to Basalt for a while. Nonetheless, even if I did replace Kazza with Basalt I'd still have to get rid of Basalt at some point because my team still misses a water pokeman, and, well, he would yet again be the one to go. (though, I'd need a ground/rock type pokemon, too) Argh, I can't believe how hard it is to arrange a good team this time round. Admittedly I only just began playing to game, but it still gnaws me a little as I didn't have this kind of trouble in Sapphire, in which I have a very balanced team. Baww, I need more pokemon of two type, like Flygon or Breloom, to solve my problems. D: Just can't wait how hard a time I have choosing my party pokemon once I catch more pokemon. All I know for now is that I'm definitely not going to switch Shinji, Noel or Tay to anyone.
Sorry if this entry is a bit jumbled, just wanted to vent about my onix problem somewhere.
