So, I think the count is up to four dead, with more coming. It seems like young men, specifically men who were at work, are dying at the highest clip. And when they're not, they somehow manage to be in a position (whether inside the house or out) to take injuries. This is a problem because most of the time these young guys are the source of income. I do not know who's going to rebuild all these houses. I have no idea.

Anyhow, this all thru my auntie Tahira, she's been the only one we've been able to contact, but we know that all my dad's brothers and sisters and their children are alive, and almost all of them well, thank god. I think our house is the only one that is standing in the village at moment. It's where two of the brothers live, and one aunt lives directly behind it in a house there. Another aunt lives above 7 or so minutes away, and another aunt lives 20-25 minutes below on the hill/mountainside where the village is.

That may not make sense, I'll try to dig up some pictures to show you how the houses are built. They are generally terraced with rocky pathways or rough hewn staircases up to the next terrace. There is a road a little ways from each house that winds up the side of the mountain for jeeps, or large animals (buffalo, etc.). It's possible to take this road up and down, though uninteresting.

Faizan (My cousin who broke his back (and nose and some teeth, apparently?)) is in a hospital, and has movement in his legs and sensation, though he's still bed-ridden. He was in a field sleeping with the rest of his family for two days until the road opened. Then my dad's cousin, incidentally my Mother's sister's brother-in-law, came as soon as the roads were open, brought food, and took faizan back to islamabad. I think he was sitting in people's laps the entire way, because they didn't really have stretchers, or you know anything else, and just had to risk it with the broken back. I guess stretchers aren't a big concern when you're trying to dig bodies out of rubbles before aftershocks. But, he'll be okay.

More later.

Edit: updated Faizan's journey.
