It's more the thoughts of a silly fangirl than a real review but well... I am who I am.
Hollow World by
Michael J. Sullivan My rating:
5 of 5 stars This is an amazing book. Michael J. Sullivan is a great storyteller and he has a way to create world and characters I just love.
I was a bit worried at first because of Ellis, the hero, and how little I could relate to him. Church-going middle-age man who seemed to lean more on the right side of the political board - not exactly the kind of person I usually like to read about. A bit cold, nothing really special about him except for his fatal illness and his time machine (warning, about that time machine... suspension of disbelief is necessary... but really it's not that important all in all)
Ellis leaves 2014 and travels to a strange future where people have left the surface of the planet to go underground, where clothes are optional and where there is only one gender: neutral (the Ken doll future, it's a thing).
And facing this world, Ellis, who seems to have always been more sheep-like, changes. It's gradual and he always had the possibility for that courage, goodness and selflessness inside him but being there, meeting Pax makes that change possible.
