Catherine, the Great
I thought I was going to struggle to find a #happything today: it wasn't a particularly bad day, just a rather tough and meh one... until the terribly sad news of the death of Alan Rickman broke :(
But I have been greatly cheered by watching Episode 2 of Lucy Worsley's very entertaining and (to me) educational series about the Romanovs - about Catherine the Great. I knew very little about her, and she sounds such a fascinating, determined and inspiring woman that I've reserved the biography of her by Virginia Rounding (who features in the programme) to educate myself (an aim of which Catherine would surely have approved!)
