-Turns out it wasn't in Orlando. The tickets we got for free were for the Ft. Lauderdale showing, which was across the street from Sawgrass Mills for those of you who know the area.
-We got there in time to see Into Eternity, who did well except for the minor letdown as a result of a: the fact that they had only one guitarist playing, which didn't work out too well really, and b: the fact that they only played about three songs. I'm still pretty impressed that they can pull off those singing parts live.
-Overkill followed. Old school as hell. Not my style, but enjoyable.
-Arch Enemy. Sounded really fucking good live, but no old school material. :(
-Opeth - obviously, my reason for going. Awesome as usual minus the fact that we couldn't hear all of the guitars for some reason and they only had time for 4 songs (which is still a LONG time, incidentally). Akerfeldt was sporting an interesting sense of humor this time around (IE the quote at the end of the post, which had me in tears), considering that every other time I've seen them live, he's usually rather docile. It's also worth noting that they were the only band I wanted to get to sign my shit, but they only did a PRE signing before I even got there.
-Lamb of God. Played for what seemed like fucking ages. Good stuff, but it felt like forever, whereas all the other bands felt like they were rushing in comparison.
-Megadeth. Didn't bother staying for them. No offense to them, but eh. I got what I came for.
-Merch cost me a fuckton. So much so that I'm sort of ashamed that I let myself go simply because I actually had money to do so for once. $65 for a hoodie is REDICULOUS... but I love Opeth... a lot. =P
-Copious amounts of eye candy. COPIOUS. WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY? THERE'S MUSIC GOING ON? I'M SORRY, I DIDN'T NOTICE WITH ALL THE FINE ASS IN MY FACE AND ALL.
-Jon didn't go because he's a poopyhead. He promised to go to the next one.
