Study Break # I Am Never Going To Graduate From Law School.

Actually, why did I ever stop using Semagic? I can't remember now. Must have been some reason. I think maybe it bugged me that I couldn't see what my mood icon pic was?  But it makes me happy now, and that's all that matters. In related news, man, how much do I love the "just get over it" response to things that are irritating? I can't even tell you. I know I joke about being a mental 12 year old, but 'just get over it' is one of those things that brings out the child in me. It makes me, like, want to start 'just get over it' wars. Do you know what I mean? Like when you were 7 or 8, and you went through your "so?" phase? And people would say things to you and you'd go "so?" At least until they beat your ass or something? Maybe that was just me. But I amuse myself thinking of lying in wait for the 'just get over it already' crowd to complain about something inane, which will inevitably happen, because complaining about inane things we can't change is the lifeblood of lj, just so I can be like "oh, does that bug you? Enough that you posted about it? You know what you should do? You should just get over it." And then I would do that for like MONTHS WEEKS DAYS, until, you know, I got defriended or banned from commenting in people's ljs. Because sometimes I am not even 12. Sometimes I am 5. And I'm okay with that.

(I confess -- _squeee mentioned that the update page had been changed yet again since Wednesday, and I was sorely tempted to check to see what they tinkered with, just in case they changed it for the worse, so I could have a little whine and a moan, as the delightfully gap-toothed Lilly Allen puts it. Me and LJ. Love-hate relationship that way. OMG, LJ is like my Huston. Why are my relationships so unhealthy?)

But I'm not gonna. Because I love Semagic and Semagic loves me, and we're so happy together. So if the new update layout bugs you, and you're having problems with your eyes and/or it crashing your browser and/or it just generally upsetting you because sometimes things do that, you should maybe try a client again? God speed.

(See how I said last post that I was moving on, but then I didn't? That's how I roll. I'm a dweller. If only I could dwell on this paper... >.<)

Can someone tell me, without being too spoilery, the premise of Dexter? It seems to be gaining some popularity in the icon communities. Visually, it's interesting looking. And I know, I half-ass the two fandoms I'm involved in now, but I can still window-shop, right? >.>

John Mayer is just so cool. (Minor spoiler for last night's Office). I was just talking to johnnybvo about how it's so fun that Mayer is unabashedly a fan at times. I used to really like his column for Spin where he'd talking about what music he was digging lately. I haven't really gotten into his last two albums as much as his earlier stuff, but I am still generally fond of him.

The battery on my old laptop officially died! In a way, it's nice that we're done with the pretense that my Gateway had any real kind of battery-life anyway. I mean, I essentially always had to be plugged in after what? the first week I got it? It would get like 80 minutes of battery life. On a good day. If all I wanted to do was use the calculator.

I keep eating frosted donuts and not working on my paper, which are both, as you well know, serious problems. There's a fat little cubist penguin on the donuts box. He might be cute, but that Happy Feet has ruined penguins for me. FOREVER. Stupid preachy guilt-tripping penguins. Did I mention I saw that movie a couple weeks ago? It was scary. I mean, I'm 25 and I thought that movie was scary, so I don't even know how scarred the six year olds in the audience were.

I can't figure how I feel about the redone video for How To Save A Life. Like, supermanipulative much? I don't need to have that many people, that in pain, that in my face. Thanks. But the eyes are so beautiful.

Also, Mulder wants to make his decision by Saturday and today is Friday, which is the day that comes before Saturday? So that's distracting.

Has anyone ever tried the Fast Lane tea from Celestial Seasonings? They resurrected it, allegedly due to popular demand, but they're ONLY making it available on their website. And the shipping charges are a biiiiiiiiiiit ridiculous, so I won't place an order, but I'm still curious. I do think I'm gonna place an order for some tea from Amazon though; I haven't been able to find the African Orange Mango Rooibos tea for a couple of months now, and Amazon's got a pretty good price. The only thing is you have to buy a six count of boxes, but I suppose it's not like the tea will go bad for a while. I might also try the Marrakesh Express Vanilla Spice while I'm at it. I've never even seen that in stores.  If you'd be interested in splitting the order with me, lemme know.  Else I'll just force half of it on rickenbacker and she won't be able to talk shit about me drinking pansy tea, because she'll also have some in her possession. Yes.

Okay, going to work on my paper. Yes.

But first!
"The Mets are aware of how good a pitcher Barry Zito is and how much he could help," the source said. But he added they also know how much they want to spend and that they are expected "to stick with it" even with their apparent need for a proven starting pitcher and the staggering escalation in the average annual value of new contracts for pitchers.
Another source from outside the organization said last week it was his understanding, from speaking with Mets personnel, that the club had made an offer to Zito for five years and $70 million. - Mets won't raise offer for prized lefty.

I'm really quite fascinated to see how this plays out. Because, I mean, if the Rangers have really put $102 mil on the table for six years, then you're essentially valuing the difference between playing in New York and playing in Texas at $15 million, for just the five years, right? Guy can go to New York and compete with the new look Mets for five years or he can go to Texas for six years and be a full $32 million dollars richer. (And not pay state income tax on it, right?) But I mean, come on, Barry. He's gotta realize WHY the Rangers are throwing that kind of money at him. Still, fascinating.

The club once had interest in another free agent/former A's pitcher, Mark Mulder. But that too has passed because the Mets now believe Mulder won't recover so quickly or early from Sept. 12 shoulder surgery.

Hmm, troublesome. Don't believe he will recover so quickly or don't want to take the chance he doesn't recover so quickly? :/ I mean, not that I have any particular reason to value the opinion of the Mets' medical people over the medical people anywhere else....
