Buster Olney and Jim Caple are my boyfriends, yo.

From The Great Baseball Classic Debate --

Buster: Don't get me wrong. Personally, I don't care whether a player participates. But the possibility of being deemed unpatriotic scares some players to death. No one is going to question anyone's patriotism or say that the terrorists win if A-Rod doesn't show up (though the Bush administration might start eavesdropping on their infield chatter).

I love it!

No one else really cares whose uniform he wears

that's note really true, though...some of my NY friends related how alex was blasted by latino fans on radio shows for choosing to play for the U.S. meanwhile hideki matsui is being made out as a bad guy in japan for choosing to opt out of the stupid thing entirely, being called unpatriotic and the like. as stupid as it seems, people do take it seriously.

personally i think the whole thing's a joke, and the fact that guys are being villified for not playing and are being pressured into playing is pretty damn lame.

But if you ask me, if he'd come right out and picked a side instead of acting like picking a side was some tremendous statement about who and what he was and he ( ... )
