I've gotten through True Blood up to Season 2, Episode 6.
Bill and Sookie bore me a bit if I try to take them seriously. Granted, it's without the side of annoyance that Buffy/Angel always inspired and I am often bored by main characters or couples. I did giggle hysterically through the virginity loss scene and then was surprised that it wasn't a dream sequence. (That nightgown? Seriously?) Eric has really been at his best interacting with Pam and Lafayette (Who are probably my favorite characters, despite a current obsession with Maryann. And would Pam/Maryann not be a fucking dreamteam?)
I am in love with Maryann. I was from pretty much her first scene at the end of season 1. Apparently a lot of fans hate her? I know I'm predisposed to the love because of Admiral Cain on BSG, but color me shocked. I believe I officially ship her with every other pretty female on the show, including the ones she's never even had a scene with. I was so hoping for moral ambiguity instead of straight up evil. I'm picturing it tipping over the edge in episode 7. Well, if it hasn't already due to the consent issues involved in inciting an orgy in that particular manner. (And, pfft, Sookie thought Bill was hosting an orgy. THAT'S an orgy. I'm also tired of the "orgies as a result of badness" theme. I mean, I can't think of any other show that has had a full blown dubcon orgy and clearly one that's there by the second season should not be chastised for it, but I'd just for once like to see an orgy spawn from a happy, good kind of awesome. Not right away, though, even I think that it might be getting a little heavy on the sex.)
I like that Terry is getting more screen time, he could be interesting. And Jessica and Hoyt are cuter than I would have suspected.
I have other thoughts about the more understated humor and how I can't always tell if it's intentional or not. I think most of it must be, considering Alan Ball was the genius behind Six Feet Under. So, I could go on, but I want to go watch the next one.
