Dominique,

I hope this message reaches you.  Recently it's been Pierre replying in your place, and it seems a little odd that he'd be taking over your private correspondence.  Or perhaps he's doing it with your blessing, and this is a graceful way of avoiding saying you'd rather I stopped bothering you.

I know that you're busy and preoccupied with your normal ministerial duties, and now this Clearstream affair has raised its ugly head and been latched onto by the press.  If it's being given this much coverage by the foreign papers, I can only imagine what the French media coverage must be like.  I wonder how many times lately you've wished that your friend M. Gergorin had simply walked past the Foreign Ministry that cold January day instead of ducking inside to see you and to tell you a story.

I've heard nothing from Vladimir for weeks now.  I gave him an introduction to a friend of mine in Switzerland, but I don't know whether or not he ever followed up on it.  I've been reluctant to even ask her  that question, since the nature of her work is private, but his continued silence, like yours, worries me.  I care about you both, you know, and hope things work out between you.

Please take care of yourself.

Swan
