Since it fell on a Saturday this year, I took the Friday before off work. It was nice; I woke up around 6:15 so I could renew my driver's license before a million people lined up at the satellite station, then finally got the oil changed in my car. After the boring parts of doing things that had to be done, I met up with my mom at Target and finished buying birthday presents for the twins. Then we got a little bit lost going to the fancy new open-air mall, but I figured it out and got us there. We stopped in Barnes and Noble, where I got a screen protector for my nook (finally!) and a gift card so I could actually buy some ebooks. I got The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, and The Sun's Heartbeat by Bob Berman. The first is about the first human cells grown in culture, which means that a lot of important medical research-type things happened using them, and the second is, you guessed it, about the Sun. It sounded pretty interesting, contrary to the titles and my lackluster synopses.

Then we went to the Bath and Body Works, where I got a ton of good-smelling things. I'm trying out the "into the wild" and "forever sunshine" scents, and picked up more of the cherry blossom kind. After that, we went to Sephora. It was very exciting, and I kind of didn't want to leave. I got a ton of stuff-- two Urban Decay palettes, a single Urban Decay shadow and a primer, a Tarte powder, a Tokidoki rollerball perfume and sparkle-powder, and a silver and a black crackle nail polish.

The packaging is one of my favorite parts of fancy makeup. Both of the Urban Decay palettes have velour outsides; the ammo one has a revolver and skulls and flowers and such on it. The Tarte powder is a compact that is squishy and padded, and Tokidoki packaging makes my want to keep it forever; I guess that's how hoarding starts?

The last stop with my mom was at Lane Bryant; I got a couple of bras and more panties, and a couple tops and a pair of jeans and some pants that look like jeans but didn't have a zipper and only had pretend pockets. I think I may have committed the atrocity of buying jeggings? I'm not sure, but they fit me well and didn't look as awkward as some of the other jeans I tried on. I also got an awesome feather-thing hair accessory; it's black and amazing, and I can't really describe it.

Friday night I went to see Harry Potter again with my husband and our roommate. It was blessedly quiet this time around; there were maybe ten other people in the theatre with us. It was much more enjoyable than on opening night, and I still got stuff in my eyes during the same parts that got me the first go round.

On my actual birthday, I slept really late, cleaned up the house a little, then took a nap when my husband went to pick up our roommate from work, who didn't drive for no ulterior reason or anything. When I finally rolled out of bed and went downstairs to be social, I got my presents and birthday cake cookie. From my husband and roommate I got a new pot, a set of two skillets (they're Paula Deen ones! XD), a box of tupperware, a couple of mini candles from Bath and Body Works (frosted cupcake and woodland berries) and a candle holder that is an angry looking Halloween black cat head, a purple monster-shaped candle that will never be lit, a plush key-ring-thing that is a zombie head that looks like it came from Adventure Time, a blind box flash drive (it's a bear-shaped one), and a very green Domo-kun t-shirt. My birthday confection was a cookie cake that said "Happy 21st Birthday AGAIN" and had a green brontosaurus. I don't want to eat the dinosaur part yet because he's too cute.

I just fail at taking pictures is all.

Finally, we went out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant. I had delicious teriyaki steak and gyoza, and picked at the sushi everyone else got. I still am not fond of fish, or really spicy things though, so I only ended up stealing one piece.

That turned into a wall of text. Oops. :s

Also there was perfect timing on how the new KAT-TUN video magically appeared. It must have been fate, or something. :3

i'm totally an adult, i'm bad at pictures, 11
