This feels like a fairytale, she thinks to herself one day.
One green-eyed boy is waiting for her in the common room today and she doesn't want to be late.
Just as she is about to turn in a corner, she hears people speaking. Loud voices. Definitely arguing. She decides it's not worth her time so she turns back to take another route when she heard a girl's voice.
Luna's voice.
"Please, I need to finish my Herbology assignment tonight," she hears Luna says, "so can I have my bag back, please?"
She takes a peek from her place and sees that Luna is cornered by three girls, Ravenclaws.
"Oh, why'd you even bother with studying anyway, Loony? It's not like you're gonna come out of here doing anything important," one of the girls seems to be saying. The other two laughed while they levitates Luna's bag out of her reach.
Just as she about to cast a spell, she hears a loud thump and the contents of Luna's bag spill on the floor.
"Leave her alone."
Ginny looks and sees Harry with a look she's never seen before, his hand tightly holding on his wand. The three girls look stunned.
"Now," he says with a tone of authority. They mumble an apology and walks in her direction.
"Weasley, calm your boyfriend down, would you? He looks like a menace," one of the says when they're walking past her.
She stays rooted to her place for a couple of seconds before going over to Harry and Luna.
"Luna, are you okay?" she hears him say as she sprints a little towards them. Between that, she sees both of them crouching, picking up Luna's stuff, their heads almost touching.
"I'm okay, it's all just a bit of fun," Luna smiles appreciatively at Harry.
"They were not having fun," he says (a bit huff at the end) and Ginny decides she should make her presence noticed.
"LUNA! Are you okay?" she pretends she didn't see their little time together and puts her concern for Luna first.
"Hi, Ginny!" she smiles brightly at her red-headed friend, looking up,"I'm okay, don't worry. It's all good fun between me and those girls."
The way she says it is so simple, like those girls played hopscotch with her just now and not toying with her.
Before she could argue a reply, Harry beat her to it.
"Luna, you can't keep letting people do this to you. Remember? We talked about this," he says, exasperated.
They talked about it? And she doesn't know anything about said talk.
"Oh, I know, but it's like playing 'hide and seek' with your stuff, isn't it? It means they acknowledge my presence as a Ravenclaw," Luna says it with pride.
"But they're bullying you-"
"Oh, Harry, you worry too much. Are you sure you're not infected with wrackspurts?"
"Yes, I'm sure," he sighs in defeat. Then, he simply smiles at Luna because she's smiling at him like she always do.
Ginny finds this a bit uncomfortable for some reason, being in her place.
Luna bids her goodbye to the couple and skips off to her dorm...
... and Harry watches her walk away until he doesn't see her anymore.
"So," Ginny begins, "what were-"
"Hey," he turns to her and touches her shoulder,"I was looking for you. You were a bit late there, didn't you?"
He smiles at her with those same smile he always gave her at the end of the day. She forgets what her question was and he doesn't even ask. So she smiles back at him and laces her fingers with his.
She feels like she's in a fairytale, only, she's not quite the princess.
