Britt informed me recently that
refined sugar is often processed through bone char. I bought some raw cane sugar at the New Leaf Market on Saturday, and I put it in my tea today. It doesn't taste that different. I'm trying to avoid animal bones in my food (I already avoid gelatin as often as possible). I don't know what I'm going to do about this sugar thing though. Avoiding all manufactured foods with sugar seems to be a tall order, especially since I have a huge sweet tooth. I suppose I can do what I can to avoid it at home in things that I make and attempt to decrease my intake of sugar in other foods. I just think that it's unrealistic for me to think I can avoid all foods that have sugar in them...
