For one or two people on my friends list who might find this interesting -- a debate between Noam Chomsky and Michel Foucault:
Part 1Part 2 It's interesting to watch because Chomsky is speaking in English, Foucault in French, there are (what I believe to be) Dutch subtitles and then English subtitles over that for Foucault. Chomsky and Foucault at least are bilingual enough to understand the other, which is so cool. I wish I weren't language-retarded. Also, on a totally superficial note, the Chomsky of 1971 is kinda hot. Maybe it's because he's wearing glasses and using big words like "anarcho-syndicalism," but I'm just putting that out there. I think there's something cut out between the first and second halves, because the argument seemed to jump a bit. But, in my own untutored opinion, I'm kinda agreeing with Foucault here. I've done very little reading of either, and sometimes I wish that my intelligence bent in the direction of understanding and using this sort of stuff, but alas it doesn't.
I took a full-length practice multiple-choice test today, and I did pretty well. Sadly, my perfectionist tendencies are killing me. I'm thinking "Oh, I need to do better just in case my essays suck" and "But, on the real thing you might miss more questions, so study harder!!!" Ugh. I only have 2 days left to study, and I don't want to push myself too hard on Monday because I don't want to be completely worn out for the actual exam days. I can't believe the bar is so soon. I should stop talking about it.
Edited to add: I just found a transcript of the entire debate
here. I don't have time to sift through it now though.
