Chapter 9:

Lying on his side, Nino was trying to remember what Jun looked like. He tried and tried, but every time he tried to recall the designer’s beautiful face, all he could see was that alien looking thing covered in blood. Nino shuddered in horror as he willed himself to not tear up. Crying wasn’t going to do anything. He spent the last two days wailing to himself, cursing at anything, praying to any god who would listen, but nothing happened.

He stopped the hand that wanted to feel his abdomen. It was no use. Nothing was going to change. The child wasn’t in him anymore and it’s not like it would come back.

A miscarriage.

That was what Sho said it was. The attacks he suffered must have caused it. It wasn’t his fault. If someone needed to be blamed, it would be the people who had beaten him up. The fetus was so small that it was probably a slow developer, which was why he was still as flat as ever.

Nino couldn’t remember why he remembered those random bits that Sho tried to console him with. It’s not like it would make any difference. He had better things to worry about anyway.

It was now the third day. Three whole days of not stepping out of his room. Three whole days of not talking to anybody. Three whole days of not eating anything. The time he was dreading was about to come. Jun was coming back today. He may or may not have heard of what happened, but the point was that Nino had disappointed Jun, and a disappointed Jun wasn’t something he could face in the current state of his.

But facing Jun was something he had to do eventually, Nino just wished it wasn’t now.

“You whore!” was what he heard even before the door to his chambers flew open to reveal a raging Jun. Nino didn’t even have the time to sit up properly when the designer marched up to him and yanked him to his feet by his robes, “How could you?!”

Nino opened his mouth, ready to do whatever it took for Jun to forgive him for not being able to carry his child to term.

“I knew this place was a fake!” Jun continued screaming, “My father warned me that such scam agencies existed! I can’t believe I just wasted months of my time on you!”

Hearing what Jun had to say, Nino was beyond confused. What scam agencies was Jun talking about? Wasn’t he angry that he had killed Jun’s child? Then why was Jun going on about being tricked?

“You were never carrying my child in the first place, weren’t you?” snarled Jun, hurling Nino onto the floor.

Nino couldn’t look Jun in the eye as he laid on the floor in a crumpled heap. He now knew what Jun was angry about.

“No,” mumbled Nino weakly, “I was never pregnant with your child…we were just trying to cheat you out of your money,”

Eyes on the ground, Nino heard Jun gasp in shock. The designer took two steps backwards and took a deep breath before saying the words that crushed Nino’s heart into a million pieces.

“I never want to see you again,”

With that said, the designer stormed out of the room, leaving Nino crying silent tears as he clutched at his chest. After all, Nino knew he preferred having Jun hate him for not carrying his child, rather than hate him for killing it.
