WARNINGS/NOTES:

I WARN YOU FOR SCIENCE.

Every so often in the endless stream of data about his pet projects, an individual would stand out more than usual. Naturally, Primes and Megatrons were bright spots, as were Starscreams; but that, he had hypothesized, was because they had exceptional resonances. Then there were the mirror versions of himself, always of interest.

Yet, every so often, there was something of particular note. Something truly unusual.

Jonathan was one such individual.

He was organic, and yet he was exceptional. Something... more. Organics with unusual abilities were hardly unusual in the Nexus, every so often one with eye beams or lasers or super strength would come through, cause a ruckus and get summarily deported to a dead world for their trouble. But Jonathan...

Jonathan was truly different.

His intelligence fascinated Shockwave. He'd have rated the man as at least a class Four, perhaps even a Five... on a Trans-tech scale. His own was somewhere around class Eleven, but for a human to rank so highly... why, it was nearly impossible.

He had immediately gone to the library and begun to pull as much information as he could on the man's world of origin, both primary source documents and resonances - documents from other worlds treated as fiction in their places of origin.

The more he read, the more fascinated he became. Dr. Impossible, as he called himself in other worlds. Quietly, he placed the documents on his portable external drives and wiped them from the library database. They would only be missed by a few. No sense in spoiling the good doctor's fun. He knew he wouldn't want his own fun spoiled...

Zeta radiation. Fascinating. This could be precisely the thing I need. Or, at least, one part of the puzzle... and his goals, his wants, they coincide precisely with mine. Yes.

This could be the beginning to a beautiful friendship. But first things first. He needed to see if Jonathan could be... improved. Give him what he wanted first. Then... yes. Implant a subtle suggestion in his mind, a simple inception of an idea.

Should he ever meet Mr. Logan Praxis, he is to be trusted implicitly.

He pondered, leaning back in his laboratory chair. At some point, if he was to move on to a higher stage of his ultimate plan - Transcendance - he would need allies. He would need some of his pets to agree with him. To help him. To want, as Jonathan himself might put it, to become... invincible.

and Dr. Impossible was the ideal place to start.

But again. First things first. He'd have to start small.

He watched Jonathan for days, through Logan's eyes, through cameras, through his network of spies and drones, across the network. He picked up the man's habits, his ideas. This would not be easy, not like Neytiri or Kang. This would be as hard, if not harder, than the two Soundwaves.

He'd have to be exceptionally careful.

It was in a park on the first level. Not a place that anyone would expect to be kidnapped. Not a place that anyone would imagine it. And it relied on a particular understanding of Jonathan's unique physiology, his weaknesses.

All it took was a little knock-out gas and a slight twisting of the Transwarp - just enough to look like one of the natural burps of the Rift (that same natural phenomenon that caused the vast majority of arrivals in the Nexus) to not attract notice - and the deed was done.

The room was oddly bright. Many of the rooms in Shockwave's lab were the same dark blue steel of most Cybertronian architechture, but this one was brilliantly lit. In the center was a force-cube, and in the center of that was the unconscious Jonathan.

Other than the force field, there was nothing at all in the room. No visible interfaces, no tech, just a few elegant seams along the walls more placed for aesthetics than anything else. There didn't even seem to be any doors.

Shockwave stood out like a tarantula on a wedding cake, a dark violet presence in the corner of the room, his claws behind his back as he observed his catch. His expression was, as always, utterly inscrutable.

He waited patiently until he saw Jonathan coming around to consciousness.

“Greetings, Doctor Impossible,” he said quietly, his soft and faintly accented tones seeming somehow to fill every corner of the silence.
