OH GOD I CAN TAG THIS, RIGHT? greasemunkygal July 30 2009, 12:10:55 UTC
Mikaela had been confined to Zone 1 for the time being; the chemical spill was still preventing her and everyone else from going home immediately. It was frustrating, it was boring, and she still felt slightly sick. Once she made sure that Kitt wasn't going to completely crumble on her, she decided it was time for a walk. She needed to get away from the others; the guilt she felt over Kitt (and even Kino), the peering and questioning eyes of the Autobots, Sam's feminine whining. She just needed air.

So, she gathered up her purse, stuffed her shoes back on her feet, and set off without a real destination in mind. This would give her some time to think, at least.

Or so she thought. She had barely been walking five minutes when she heard a whine that seemed to come from in between buildings. Deciding that the buildings probably (though who knew, here) didn't talk, she went to investigate.

..."Hello? Anyone there?" She poked her head into the alley, a brow lifted in curiosity.

At first, he jumped back from the voice, thinking it was one of those metal people come to find him. But it didn't sound like them, and there hadn't been any stamp stomp of huge feet either. Timidly, wincing, Vash looked up...

... And saw an angel looking into the alley.

He just stared at her. The first human face he'd seen since he suddenly turned up here. Maybe some of the others had been in the lines with other humans, but not him. He'd been stuck surrounded by giant pieces of Lost Technology. Her hair was long and dark, like... No, it wasn't her. They had different eyes... didn't they?

"Y... H..." Coherent words didn't come out of his mouth.

She narrowed her eyes in concern, and tilted her head to the side. What was he doing in there? Hiding from something…someone, that’s what it looked like. He wasn’t familiar, at least not to her, but he didn’t look like he was going to hurt her, so she stepped completely into the alley, regarding him carefully.

“Uh…are you okay?” She asked hesitantly, running her fingers through her hair nervously. Nothing coherent was coming from him, and Mikaela wasn’t sure what else to say. She took a step forward then stopped and eyed her surroundings. Being in an alley with someone she didn’t know wasn’t good. There was a trash can next to her, if necessary, she could grab the lid and use it as a weapon if necessary.

She was beautiful!

There were no other words to describe her. Except maybe, "perfect", or "lovely", or "fairest flower in all the sun-dried and wasted world!" But none of those would come. He just sat there, stammering.

Wait, question. She was asking him a question. Was he okay? Vash glanced down. Patches of his coat were stained a darker red, and he ached all over from the fight... He'd live. That counted as okay, didn't it?

"H-Hi there...!" he said finally, peeling a gloved hand off a wound to wave awkwardly at her. "I... I'm okay! Really! No need to worry, fairest flower of this sun-dried and wasted world!"

Hey! He had gotten some of it out!

She shifted from one foot to the other while she waited for a response, her brow furrowing in concern. Maybe he was mute? She hadn’t meant to offend, if he was. When he spoke, Mikaela honestly felt a little relieved. At least he could talk. Sort of.

“You don’t look okay.” Fairest flower? That was new. She studied him a little more intently now; aside from his inability to form sentences that made sense, he looked like he was covered in blood and that some of it was his. She took an involuntary step back.

“You’re not like…some psychotic serial killer, right?” Hopefully. That garbage pan lid looked more and more appealing.

Oh crap.

"N-n-n-no! It's okay, Ms. Beautiful Girl!" he stammered, waving his hands. "I wouldn't! Ever! Even the sight of blood makes me wanna be sick!" Vash winced, trying to smile around the sudden rush of nausea and stabbing pain. "K-Kinda... like now...!"

He stopped his flailing, and hastily curled back up into his protective ball. "I'm... I'm real sorry. You can run off now, if you want... I'm not gonna chase you..." His expression clouded, he shuddered. "But you gotta be careful... 'cause... the Lost Tech Men."

"Mikaela. My name is Mikaela." She was convinced at this point that he wasn't going to hurt her, but she picked up the lid anyway as she took several steps towards him. She set it down and knelt beside him staring in concern.

"'M not gonna run off. You...you look rough...maybe we should get you to a doctor..." Her voice trailed off at his statement.. "The lost...what?" Did he mean the 'bots...?

For a brief moment, it seemed as if literal hears sparked up in those blue eyes of his. "Mikaela~!" he all but sang out, forgetting his injured state over the simple fact that a woman was interacting with him without running away. Or slapping him. "A beautiful name for the most beautiful girl!"

In fact, she was coming closer. The invisible hearts floated around his head for a while longer, until she spoke. "N-no! Really! I'm okay!" he said, trying to laugh, and failing. After a beat, he nodded, several times, expression abruptly changing to a much more serious one.

"The huge metal people," he whispered. "You gotta be careful! They could step on us!"

"Uh...thanks." Mikaela definitely saw something flash in his eyes; she feels a little awkward, but she lets it slide. She kneels beside him, resting a hand on his shoulder.

"You're uh...covered in blood..." He definitely needs a doctor.

"Oh. The 'bots won't hurt you! The uh...'cons might, but as a whole, the TransTechs won't hurt you." She grins; when she first arrivied, she had been a bit freaked out too.

Vash's brain needed a minute to reboot. The girl--the really nice girl who was worried about him--had come closer, and put her hand on his shoulder. Girls didn't do that to him--no one did that. They always ran away, or hit him. For a minute, he was speechless again. "Oh, oh yeah, kinda!" he admitted, smiling nervously. "But but that's okay! It was just kinda... I mean... this guy with a sword and... It was all a really bad misunderstanding! Really!"

The smile wavered. "Wh-What?" What were those words? They didn't even sound like things he'd heard as a child. "B-Bots? Wha? They didn't... mess with your brains did they...?"

"A sword? Someone's running around Axiom with a sword?" That was a little alarming. She tried to return his smile, but his nervousness seemed to be rubbing off on her.

"Of course not." She laughed faintly; she hoped they hadn't. "The most they did was implant me with a tracking device. At least, 'm guessing that's what that is. You got one too, didn't you?"

He shook his head more times than strictly necessary. "Nuh-No!" he stammered. "Th-That was back! Where I'm from!" He waved his hands yet again, backing up against the wall behind him. "I dunno how I got here either I'm real sorry please don't get mad, you're so pretty..."

He'd been, on some level, trying to reassure the pretty girl. But then... she had to go and say the magic words, 'tracking device'. Vash's arms flailed wildly, bloodied coat flying in all directions as his voice hit an unprecedented decibel.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS YOU CAN'T MEAN THAT I'M NOT THE GUY THEY THINK I AM, I NEVER MET THAT GUY BEFORE REALLY I SWEAR WHY ARE THEY TRACKING ME I'M SORRY I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!"

“Hey, hey calm down…” She would have picked a crazy person to talk to today. It was only natural, after all. This was Mikaela. Her stomach twisted uncomfortably; she still felt sick from the chemical spill and this wasn’t exactly helping. “I’m…I’m not mad, just calm down…okay?"

She edged a little closer to him, her eyes wide when he started to really freak out. On some level, he heavily reminded her of Sam.

“Whoa…calm down, okay? They do it to everyone.” She tapped her arm, wincing at the shouting. “It’s not that big of a deal I think…they just want to make sure we’re safe.” That was probably not the case at all, but if it kept him from shouting in her ear and furthering along that headache she was beginning to develop, then by all means…

“What’s your name, huh?” She reached up and snatched his flailing arms out of the air, despite any blood she may get on her. She could deal with that later.

Let it never be said that Vash the Stampede would do nothing for beautiful women. He tried to calm down for her, going back to his folded little ball position, and looking at her with wide eyes. "Okay," he mumbled. She was... so... pretty... and still talking to him!

"Everyone?" he asked. "Y'mean there's more people here? Not just the Lost Technology guys?" He hadn't seen any other people. And being surrounded by metal people that probably wanted to step on them all... keeping people safe made sense. But why would more... not-completely-metal people want to do that?

And then his brain went sailing off the deep end as she grasped his arm. Thankfully, it was the right arm--the one that was still the real flesh and blood limb. He didn't want to try to explain the other just yet. "M-My name?" he stammered, blushing the same red as his coat.

"Valentinez Alkalinella Xifax Sicidabohertz Gumbigobilla Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre Andry Charton-Haymoss Ivanovicci Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser III!"

“Good.” She released his arm, giving his shoulder an awkward but light pat. “Yeah, there’s more people here too…’s not just the ‘bots and ‘cons.” She wrinkles her nose and forehead in thought, and took a seat next to him. She wasn’t about to leave him here; might as well get comfortable until he was ready to walk.

A faint smile crossed her face at his stammer; that was something Mikaela was used to. Sam still did it around her sometimes, even after two years.

“Wow. That’s uh…some name. Have you got like…a nickname or something? ‘Cause I gotta be honest…I’m never gonna remember all that.” She grinned at him, though the look on her face? Complete shock. She’d never heard such a long name before in the entire history of her being.

"The who and the wha?" he asked, barely remembering to speak when she sat nearby. Every word was stunning, every movement astounding. He could look at her and listen to her for days and never get tired. Of course, should any other girl of equal beauty saunter by, Vash's attentions would be sorely divided. "Where's all the people?"

Trying to smile, and trying not to move--because everything still hurt--he gave her the first name he could think of. Something on one in their right mind would ever associate with Vash the Stampede.

"Oh uh! You can call me Eriks!"
