His approach was not unnoticed. And, since he was headed straight forward, she shifted a little to put both feet flat on the ground, ready to act if he attacked.
But when he spoke, the girl relaxed and flashed a grin in his direction.
"Oh, I lost count awhile ago. Hasn't gotten old yet."
Cliffjumper shook his helm and snorted, tapping his fingers against the back of the bench. Really, Toph, how amusing could it be? At least it was relatively harmless, if just annoying.
"If ya say so. I assume you ain't gonna show off here, considerin' the amount of people around." Because he didn't feel like doing damage control. Creating the damage was more his thing, really. And, really, now that he had a good look at her, Cliffjumper wondered what, exactly, Toph could do that would make her safe from being "accidentally" stepped on...
"Of course not here. I don't wanna cause any major property damage where there are witnesses," was the flippant reply. Not that she was really planning on breaking anything.
Except maybe a run down warehouse that was already falling apart, or something. And that was really just community service, right?
"I know a couple places that'd be okay. C'mon!" And she hopped off the bench.
Cliffjumper stared a bit at that, because if she could do enough that'd be considered "major property damage" then, yeah, that was impressive. He was also starting to wonder how she could do what she claimed to; there seemed to be nothing obvious on her person.
"You want to impress me enough I get all speechless, huh?" Cliffjumper smirked; while it was slightly teasing, he was starting to wonder.
"Prefer to walk over there, or would ya like a lift?" It wasn't really his favourite thing, but it seemed polite to ask.
Nothing obvious, no, aside from faded green eyes that might look a little strange to a 'bot who's been around humans.
"Well, of course I want to! It's more fun that way," Toph grinned up at him, then started walking in the direction she remembered some junked warehouses in.
"And no thanks, I like to stay on the ground. Once we get away from these people, I've got a way to hustle."
Cliffjumper laughed as he matched Toph's (temporary?) walking speed, curious what she meant; either she had some sort of transportation stashed away, or she could do more than one thing with... whatever it was.
"Sure, that's fine. Don't mind, really. May be useful to humans, an' I don't know what some of th' others think, but I'd rather prefer to not have someone inside of me in altmode." It wasn't something against humans in particular, but really, it was slightly annoying and definitely strange, especially as they were so different from any Cybertronian.
"Inside of you?" Her expression, should he look down, showed the world exactly what her thoughts on that were. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.
"Yeeaaaaaah, I think I'll pass. No thanks."
Once they were away from the crowds and onto a more deserted street, she stopped for a long moment, gathering her concentration, then leapt forward. The ground bowed under her feet as she landed, then propelled her ahead as she pulled it up into waves with her movements. Good thing the streets were so wide.
"Well, altmodes are vehicles, and currently mine's taken from Earth, so..." Cliffjumper glanced down just in time to catch her expression, and chuckled. It was useful for disguises, but it also gave other advantages, but he didn't really see 'providing lifts' as one of those, so Toph's reaction was kind of gratifying. If also funny.
And then the ground moved--- or, well, he'd have to suppose Toph did it, but how? Cliffjumper was rather taken aback at first and just stared, and had to quicken his own pace to not just catch up with her, but keep up.
She laughed gleefully. Oh, that reaction would never ever get old. Never.
"It's Earthbending!"
'Lifts' were something to be taken only in the direst of circumstances. She didn't like to get out of contact with the ground if she could help it, and definitely not in the air if at all possible. Stupid flying bisons.
"It's... whatnow?" Cliffjumper frowned and couldn't get a lock at all on what she was doing. Some sort of energy was moving, yes, but what that was and how she was controlling it? Not a clue. That was kind of unsettling, really.
"Earthbending! It's what I'm gonna show ya," she laughed, and turned a corner, her waves almost knocking over a mech walking nearby.
It wasn't much farther to a few ruined buildings she could work with. Instead of just stopping where she was, Toph had to put some form of showmanship in it. She leapt from the crest of the waves and twisted in the air, pulling up a column from the ground to land on. Like a boss.
Cliffjumper stopped, slightly behind Toph's new pillar that she was standing on and stared. Dragging a servo over his faceplates. Cliffjumper shook his helm and grinned. This was slagging strange, and that was saying something, considering what he'd seen. But maybe he should just attempt to put Toph's 'Earthbending' in the same category as Breakaway's healing and be done it with.
"I'm already impressed, so I suppose you've got a good headstart."
She stomped her foot on the column, sending it sinking back into the ground, then stomped again, flinging both arms up in a set of complicated gestures at the hulk of a nearby ruined building. A line of ground thrust upward from just in front of her, right up until it hit the side of the building and tore into it.
And that was just a simple move for her, really. One of the most basic Earthbending attacks, just amplified because Toph was, well. Toph. The only pure Earthbender back home who could give her a run for her money in her craft was King Bumi, and he was old as heck.
She dusted her hands off, then grinned up in CJ's direction. Really, this could go on all day.
It's a pity Toph can't see his reaction, but she can probably imagine it pretty well. Cliffjumper stared, optics wide, briefly gaping before he snapped his mouth closed. Sure, it'd been impressive enough when she (somehow) used the ground to move, but, well.
This was Cliffjumper, and destructive actions were definitely something he was more impressed, and appreciative of than 'merely' more practical applications of such a power.
"Okay... Slag. That was really cool." He's grinning, it can probably be heard pretty easily.
Oh, she could totally imagine. It was her most favorite reaction ever, when she showed people just what she could do and just how awesome she was.
"Heck yeah it was. There's all kinds of stuff any Earthbender could do around here. Water- and Airbenders maybe not so much. Firebenders make, y'know, fire, so they'd do okay. But Earth is where it's at in a place like this."
And really, it was. If she ever fought in the Arena, it would probably be quite the upset victory in favor of the short blind kid.
While the phrases didn't exactly mean anything to him, if the various sort of bending meant comparable action to what Toph could make, then yeah, here, Earthbending seemed to be the most useful.
"Then I suppose it's lucky you, if anyone, got sent here, since ya can more easily take care of yourself," Cliffjumper chuckled and considered the trashed warehouse.
But when he spoke, the girl relaxed and flashed a grin in his direction.
