WHO: Roger Maxson and Verity, although anyone else who stumbles across the scene is welcome to join in
WHAT: Putting the Gatling laser through its paces, and discussing some possible plans
WHERE: A firing range in zone 5
WHEN: A day or two after Verity's retrieval from zone 8
The fact of the matter was, Roger'd never really had the chance to properly test out his Gatling laser. Oh, yes, Miss Heterodyne demonstrated that it fired properly when he picked it up- but that wasn't the same as full-on autofire mode for an extended period of time. Add in the fact that Roger's primary combat experience was with rifles and pistols rather than heavy weapons like the Gatling, and, well... he was just glad he hadn't had to open fire with it the other day.
Well. Time to change all that.
Come the end of the day at the hostel, he gave Platner a couple of notes to distribute- one to take home, one to bring to Verity, that sort of thing- and left a copy on his office door. It wasn't much, just a note indicating that he was going to be spending the next few hours down in zone 5 practicing with his current weapons and might not be reachable until the session was over. The firelizard popped out of sight to deliver the messages, and Roger set off for the range.
(Given his druthers he'd've preferred to set up a range in the hostel's back yard, but he was pretty sure he'd lose his permit for that.)
