Grey would be the color, if I had a heart

Okay, to everyone who actually reads this collection of droolings, sorry I haven't updated in a while..  It's taken me a couple of days to gather up this post..
Spygirl690's visit was great, even if it went by too fast..  More on that behind the cut..

I didn't really have time to mess with them over the past week and a half, but last Saturday I started reacquiring all my lost bookmarks and organizing them..  Still have a lot to go though..  Having a computer just for fun can be a lot of work sometimes..  I've been having the urge to buy a laptop lately..  I don't know why..  I don't need one, I hate using them most the time due to the small keyboards and mousepads, and they are a pain in the ass to upgrade and work on..  I think it might just be a phase I'm going through or something, hopefully it'll pass soon..  The last thing I need to do is waste money on something that expensive..

Monday I picked up Kat from the airport..  From there we did a quick little tour of Downtown Cincinnati..  I was going to show her Fountain Square, but apparently they're doing construction on it and the fountain is on hiatus..  Then we went out for breakfast at Bob Evan's, since they don't exist in her area..  Our waiter was creepy as fuck and talked like he was stoned out of his mind..  I ordered just a simple combo of bacon, eggs, homefries, and biscuits..  Kat got herself a waffle, with strawberries and whipcream, and had her first taste of buttermilk biscuits..  I'm guessing a lot of things I eat a lot are considered "Southern" in New England and are only made available in such fine establishments as Cracker Barrel..  Those poor souls have no idea what they're missing out on..  After breakfast we went out and visited my grandmother, and one of my aunts showed up as well..  Shot the shit there fer a bit (I'm a poet and I didn't even know it), then stopped at a UDF (United Dairy Farmers) for milkshakes (strawberry for Kat and pineapple for me)..  I then took her for a small tour of my old hometown..  I showed her the houses I grew up in, where I went to school, and all that happy horse shit..  We took a jaunt over to Miami Whitewater Forest and walked one of the short trails there..  One was enough for us because it was damn hot out and the bugs refused to leave us alone..  Dinner was spent at LaRosa's, where Kat got herself a calzone and I scarfed down a hoagy..  We then spent the rest of the night hanging out in our hotel room..

On Tuesday we went to Bob Evan's again for breakfast brunch..  And wouldn't you know it, we got the same fucking waiter again too..  Anyway, I gots me some Stuffed French Toast of the strawberry variety while Kat chose a plain ol' Chicken Club sammich..  We then went to the Museum Center at Union Terminal and wandered through the Museum of Natural History and Science..  We had some fun with the exhibits, though the amount of small screaming children was a bit nerve wracking..  After perusing the gift shops and finding nothing worth buying, as usual, I drove us over to Newport on the Levee..  We went to the Newport Aquarium, which I had never been too before making it a first for each of us..  We enjoyed it enough for me to say the 18 bucks a person admission is worth it, just try to go when it isn't so packed..  We wandered around the Levee a bit and then sat in Barnes & Noble while waiting on my sister to meet us..  We met my sister for dinner at The Claddagh Irish Pub..  Kat ordered fish and chips, I had some excellent stuffed pork chops and clam chowder, and my sister and her friend/ex-boyfriend (don't ask) both decided on shepherd's pie..  After dinner we parted ways with my sister and ended up walking along the river on the Cincinnati side in Sawyer Point..  We then drove to my dad's where we sat and finished watching Clerks with him and his girlfriend..  We ended our second night at my grandmother's where, after I set up the A/C unit, we crashed..

Hump Day I made some pancakes and bacon for breakfast..  We spent the day at the Cincinnati Zoo..  Kat says she loved it, but I was a bit disappointed..  Granted I hadn't been to the Zoo in around 10 years, but I remember there being more animals..  Also, some of the cooler things weren't there anymore..  The Ape house, Elephant and Camel rides, and the large aquarium with the sharks, were all gone..  Because of the heat a lot of the animals were sleeping, but some were just plain MIA like the wolves, who have a large exhibit area, but were no where to be seen and had no place we wouldn't have been able to find them in..  I also noticed a considerate lack of lack of primates like chimpanzees and orangutans..  No fun monkeys for me to make faces at and them make faces back..  Now I have to resort to making faces at my nephew to get my fix, which is not the same..  Don't get me wrong, we still had fun, I was just a little disappointed is all..  Maybe the Zoo is just better when yer younger..  After the Zoo we left Cincinnati and made our way South..  We stopped in Lexington to have dinner at Don Pablo's..  Kat got herself a chimichanga, and I got *cues loud, echoing, superhero announcer voice* The Conquistodor..  After eating we headed to
Jerlad &
RavenAlexa's, where we spent the rest of the night..

Thursday found us without any plans..  So after finding out our gracious hosts had some things they needed to take care of, we decided to hop on over to my mom's place and go swimming..  The water was excellent, and Kat was even more excellent in her tankini swimsuit..  After swimming we hung out there until dinner time..  Tim grilled some T-Bones, zucchini, and potato slices *drool*  We gorged ourselves and went out to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest..  I enjoyed it, as did Kat though it was her third time seeing it..  We crashed at T&A's again that night..

Friday I had to work, which sucked..  The A/C wasn't working, we had a ton of shit to sort through, we didn't get everything we were supposed to (which made me wonder why I bothered going in),  and I sure as hell didn't want to be there..  So after that 8hr 45min battle, I was free..  Kat was still out out with Angie when I got to T&A's, so Tony and I took the boys to Dairy Queen..  Caramel Cheesequake goodness, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..  Kat and Angie got back from their day out and we hung out and played Talisman until we decided to hit the hay..

Saturday we went to a matinee showing of Clerks II..  Fucking Awesome!  It wasn't what I was expecting story wise, but fucking awesome none the less..  After the movie we met the 'rents at Tachibana's, a Japanese restaurant..  We stuffed ourselves full of appetizers and sushi..  I can't remember the names of most things, but I did introduce Kat to Unagi, which she liked..  Full of sushi goodliness we headed back home, then ran out again to Blockbuster and rented The Pink Panther, The New World, and The Big Lebowski..  We watched The Pink Panther, which I thought was alright, but could have been better..  Kat and I then moved our party outside where she fired up her laptop with The Big Lebowski, and I fired up my hookah with some orange shisha..  Sat there and smoked the hookah under the night sky and watched the movie until the shisha was finished and her battery died..  We then finished the movie inside and went to bed..

Sunday was her last day..  Tim made a good pork roast on the grill for lunch..  Also made some green beans, hominy, baked beans, and some mixed greens..  Everything was excellent, and Kat enjoyed a couple other first time foods..  I think it was great we could introduce her to some new foods we enjoy (except hominy, which I don't care for)..  We hung around for a bit, then I started the drive to the airport..  We stopped in Florence and ran around to kill some time, cause neither of us wanted her to leave..  We ate at Chipotle (another first for her), and delayed the inevitable as long as we could..  We finally get to the airport, and after killing more time sitting in the car and talking, We went inside, checked her in, and said our goodbyes..  It sucked major swamp donkey ass..  I had to sit in my car for a few minutes after walking away to center myself so I could drive..  I drove straight home, hung out with the fambly before going to bed..  But not before talking to Kat to make sure she made it home okay..

Nothing interesting has really happened since then, so I'll update that later..  Though I will mention that Tim dropped another moving nuke on me (and Kat) Saturday..  He's been offered a job in St. Louis that pays almost twice as much as he's making now..  He and my mom are seriously considering moving, but only because of the money and having Tim home everyday..  The Hawaii thing was just a dream apparently, not that serious..  This though, this is serious..  So now I'm waiting to see if they're going to move, and in the meantime trying to figure out if I'm going with them if they do move..  *Sigh*
