Da week in review.

Monday I went in for my procedure, clean as a whistle inside and out ( a kinder, gentler cleanse than last time; I appreciated that).  I amused the doctor by having "twisty, turny guts".  In other words, I made him earn the money my insurance company will be sending him.  Got in *early*, and was therefore done early, so instead of getting lunch, cos_x and I went to IHOP for breakfast.  I got a Rooty Tooty with a ham slice rather than bacon or sausage and downed it, as well as 2 poached eggs, hash browns, and pancakes with blueberries and whipped cream.  Then back to her place, where I worked on Sudoku, we chatted, and I took a nap before heading home.  (I clear anesthesia from my system really quickly.)  Oh, and I'm in the pink, and don't need to think about this again for 5 years.

Work on the house proceeds apace.  They had to rip out the underside of my 2nd-3rd floor stairs and re-fasten them to the exterior wall.  Turns out the original builders failed to build them correctly, and admittedly they held up really well, but now they were pulling away and needed fixing.  We figure all the other stairs have similar problems, and will do the same for them.

Another thing under construction is my lighting.  They have set up a temporary light in my 2nd floor hallway; unfortunately, it can't be turned off and shines into my bedroom.  Grrr.  I found a fixture to go there as well as a new light to replace the one in my dining room.  I haven't found anything I like yet for the living room, and I still have to look at porch lights.

The showroom I wanted to check out for balusters doesn't have Saturday hours, so if they aren't open on Labor Day, I either have to wait for another day off or get up uber early and check it out before going to work.

My flooring is, in fact, discontinued.  Considering pulling up what's laid and using it to refloor a small room.  As a replacement, there is another laminate that looks like slate that I may use as a replacement.

Supper club was at a Cajun seafood restaurant.  Disappointed in the drink I ordered - it could have used just a splash more cranberry juice.  Otherwise, completely happy.  I have to remember that I can't handle fried foods very well; I was sharing some onion rings and suddenly had to stop and ask the_geoffrey  for an antacid.  Not good.  But they have squid!  I love squid!

I spent the evening helping the_geoffrey put together a new grill (it can do both gas and charcoal).  Oddly enough, I got to be the muscle, holding pieces still while he put in the screws.  Then we broke it in by grilling a big pile of pork steaks, brats, and corn.  And since he's currently doing Atkins, and his rule is grilling involves drinking beer, it fell to me to uphold the rule of manliness while he cooked (even if what I was drinking was a blackberry witbier).

Tomorrow is lawn mowing day, then grocery shopping and church.  Monday otterhill , Fiery Doom Girl, and I are going to the Japanese Festival.  I passed near the Garden while running errands (and avoiding the highway, which was closed due to a bad accident) and saw one gal in her Gothic Lolita outfit and Hello Kitty parasol. I expect we'll see more of that, along with traditional Japanese dress; you get all sorts there.
