Yesterday I went to the Portsmouth Air Show with Lesley and her parents. It was a good show and comparable to anything I've seen at the many Cleveland National Air Shows I've been to. They had some things both static and dynamic I've not seen, such as a B-52 on the ground and an F-15 Eagle in the air. No Shockwave jet truck, though. I wasn't very well-prepared for 6 hours in the sun and ended up pretty red.
In the evening we went to dinner at the Bavaria German Restaurant in Hooksett. Business is definitely picking up there and we had a fine meal. Afterwards everyone but me engaged in a lively conversation with the owners in German (which I barely speak). Apparently the owners are very depressed by the governmental regulations in New Hampshire - they claim it is almost more difficult to start and operate a business here than in Germany. They are especially constrained by the liquor laws... they can't even import and sell certain beers that are arbitrarily blacklisted by the state. Freedom has a long way to go around here.
