Oh man what a year it has been sort of not really. It has been one big fucking blur for the most part. The year really began for me with going from finishing school to full time work at the museum. Its hard to believe that I was really there for so long, and that I was the exhibition coordinator for Frida Kahlo. Jeez. I think the year was a lot of me figuring out more about myself as a person, which is a good thing because this was the first year that I have not been in school/ in any way supported by my parents. So It was a big adjustment. I also kind of continued to blossom into my own comfortability level with guys and being in love, I still have a lot to figure out there, and I have finally come to the realization that it is going to take a long time and probably forever to really get it all. Nevertheless*, some highlights and lowlights from the year:
Frida Kahlo (as mentioned above), Nightman Cometh, Justin calling me to order pizza, 13North, Creating 5 new works and having a solo show, continuing to work on tastless greeting cards, dislocating my toe, night swimming, the beach, 24 hour road trip to Boston, Trip to DC to see Eric, 4 funerals for people who were way too young, moving, The Historical Society, reconnecting with old friends, Gayborham Lincoln, cooking more, baking more, driving less, so many photobooths, being in the center of the Phillies riot, OBAMA!, walking more, car woes, Bishop's Collar after work, Phillies games, making it to midnight this new years.
I know it seems pretty lackluster but I can't really recall a lot, and even the stuff I can seems to be lacking pizazz. What ever.
I went home yesterday for my dad's birthday. It was a really super fast trip but I got to see his side of the family which was nice because we only really see them Christmas Eve. This is the side of the family that was going to travel to Vegas for my brother's 21st. Unfortunately my cousin let us know that it is March Madness, which I knew but completely forgot, and that the rooms and flights are crazy..so we are back to the drawing board. We might go visit my Grandma in Florida, who may be moving up here in a short while. Her husband, my step grandfather (he basically is my grandpa because my paternal grandfather died when my dad was 13 and I obviously never met him), is very sick with colon cancer and the prognosis does not look that good. So she may move back up to the area, which would be interesting. My grandmother and grandfather have a really weird relationship, so much so that my aunt thinks that if his kids come to Florida and take him to live with them, she will basically say goodbye to him then, and I guess act like he is dead?!!?!?! I don't think it would go this far but, shit it is really wierd.
I also found out at this birthday dinner that I had that I was in the hospital when I was around 2 or 3 because I was really dehydrated. So instead of giving me saline, which I guess helps for severe dehydration, they shot me full of glucose, and then they took blood, and then they told my parents that I was probably diabetic because my glucose levels were like 6000. Interesting.
I got back today and went to work patching holes in the walls at the BJAMS house. Tomorrow I am going to begin my painting frenzy in order to make the house look less junky. The girls that left the house didn't really clean anything which was pretty shitty, so there were all these marks on the walls and holes that needed to be patched. So I am taking initiative and starting to paint what I have dubbed as "non-essential" areas in the house. These are areas that probably, like 95%, will not be damaged or used... aka the third floor lounge and bathroom. Brian and I did a big spring cleaning on the 2nd before I went home. I took dishes out of the dishwasher which had been in there since we first moved in :(. IT WAS GROSS. Needless to say I am unsure that we are staying for next year, I would like to, I like the house and the area, but I would prefer to a) have it look less junky and b) be clean and painted in advance of us moving out, what a concept?
I also went on this very nerdy/ weird date with a boy I met on OkayCupid today. I went to his apartment and lightly assisted him in doing laundry and then played video games? Also dude is like 21 and he is in grad school at UPenn to become a vet. And he did his undergrad at BU in 3 years because he had a high enough score in 11 of his AP Classes. 11!!!!!!!??? WHAT. Talk about baby genius. Sheesh. So yeah I don't know what is going on with other dude, and I figured why the hell not its the new year, so go ahead and judge me.
Also I somehow won a combined $27 dollars on scratch off lottery tickets today. What a bizarre day? I guess thats all....gull.
