Strays...
break my heart. 5 of our 6 cats were strays. Our dog was a stray. Our turtle was a stray. (His fish were not.) My birds were not strays, they were "oopsies" that their parents (rest their feathery souls) surprised us all with.
There is a stray cat outside tonight. Not uncommon for our neighborhood where people move and just toss their animals out when they leave. But this one is a noise maker...very vocal. And I worry that it was left behind, or as bad, that it got outside by accident and both it and it's family are sad and scared and worried.
I left it some food, and tried to show it to our mudroom. (We've got a kitty door cut into the screen door, and a kitty condo in there. It's not terribly warm, but it's out of the weather that we're supposed to be getting soon, and it's dry.)
This is how we ended up with 6 cats. And no, damnit, I am NOT going to become that cat lady!
