[For Chuck]

It'd started out as a pretty random day. After breakfast with Ellie, Devon spent most of his morning jogging and practicing down at the volleyball court. With the start of both baseball and football teams he was way excited for an increase in sport-related activities, because practicing volleyball with nothing but a net? Not exactly fun.

It looked noonish by the sun when Devon finally gave up and decided to try getting Chuck to join him. Even if Chuck wouldn't actually play, he could at least be good company. As he passed by one of the poles to pick up the ball, Devon almost missed it at first. Something red was half buried in the sand, and as Devon leaned in to get a better look, curiosity turned into excitement, and he was grinning as he dug it out of the sand.

"Way to go, great-granny," he said, brushing sand off the box. Of course she'd find some way to get her ring back to him when the time came. It'd been more than time enough, actually, but Devon had gotten to the point where he was so close to just asking Ellie, ring or no ring, and that wasn't kosher. She deserved the best ring he could give her, and this was it.

Of course, that also meant Devon would have to ask Chuck for Ellie's hand all over again, and that brought the nerves back in. Maybe not the same as last time because Chuck had said yes, but that was Real World Chuck, not Island Chuck, and Island Chuck had been here for a while, and it all just got confusing.

With a quick shake of his head, Devon scooped the volleyball up into one arm and jogged back to the hut. Ellie wasn't around, that much he knew, and it was still early enough that Chuck was either still in bed or just getting out of it.

"Chuck?" he called out as he walked inside, and over to Chuck's room. "Hey buddy, I need to talk to you."

chuck, in-game
