ToA Replay Notes - #03
I'm slowing down on this a lot now that I'm playing Luke in CFUD instead x.x BUT I AM BEATING THIS GAME AGAIN BEFORE I'M ALLOWED TO START ANYTHING ELSE. It just. Turns out I have a ton of homework so. lol. ;.;
SPOILERS THROUGH END GAME PER USUAL
Yulia City
-The first and second Sephiroth maintain the planet storm. And the fifth and eight maintain the Albertesue seal.
-The first layer of the defense of the Sephiroth are the Daathic seals that prevent people from entering the Sephiroth. Then the Albertesque seal which prevents the Sephiroth as a whole from being tampered with, and finally the Yulian seals, which I'm sure do something nifty.
-Van was made fun of when he came to the Qliphoth for being an ignorant child of the outerlands. After that he caught flak for rising through the ranks in the Order so quickly, so he grew a beard to look as old as he could.
-Hod was the eighth Sephiroth, and Akzeriuth was the fifth, making the Albertesque seal broken.
-Tear knows all of the symbols for Yulia's Hymns but the third and the fifth, but she only understands the first and the second. Mental note to keep an eye out for when she learns the others.
-The Grand Fonic Hymn (all seven of Yulia's Hymn strung together) is the symbol of the covenant between Lorelei and Yulia Jue.
-It's said that the Grand Fonic Hymn, and the Key of Lorelei together can summon Lorelei.
-Tear doesn't know the Seventh Hymn.
-Awww, Luke says nice things and tries to cheer people up now =D
-Is Theodoro Tear's grandfather biologically or just because she was a child when she fell into the Qliphoth?
-Teodoro knew about Akzeriuth's fall, assures Luke he has no need to apologize for it. Tear and Luke look, understandably, VERY SHOCKED.
-Tear says "That makes it the same as Hod!" so she knew why Hod was destroyed.
-Akzeriuth's fall was part of the Closed Score, meaning only those of Maestro rank or higher know about it. (and apparently not all of them, since Asch didn't know... I don't think?)
-"A calm, orderly life in accordance with the Score is the way of the Order of Lorelei." Luke's response to this is "W-well, yeah, but..." like a scolded child. It really IS just That Much of a given, if even Luke understands it.
-I think the 'prosperity' people want from the score is the like the promise of heaven, or a rebirth, in other religions. I didn't think of it that way before, because it's so material, but if it's the only undefined promise of hope they have to look forward to, of course that's what people cling to.
-The Order of Lorelei is literally a tool to manipulate the world into following the score to prosperity.
-Van somehow convinced Teodoro that he doesn't hate the score. lol
-"Admirable? Letting everyone in Akzeriuth die was 'admirable'? You're crazy! There's something wrong with all of you!"
-The End of the Sixth fonstone reads: "The land of Rugnica will be enveloped in war, and the Malkuth shall lose territory. Kimlasca-Lanvaldear shall thrive, and this shall lead to unprecedented prosperity."
-It is not written in the score that St. Binah will fall. But I think it WAS written on the seventh fonstone? As I recall, the game follows the score completely until the very end.
-Van would say to Tear that he could never forgive a world that let Hod die.
-Hod was destroyed sixteen years ago. Tear and Van were on the isle when it fell, and Van used a fonic hymn to save Tear's mother and himself.
-Van calls Asch 'dainty' >D
-Van and Legretta have a conversation about how Asch will cause trouble if he learns that the people of the outerlands will be annihilated. My guess he didn't know about Akzeriuth at all, even if he had the rank. They decide to have Sync watch over him.
-Tear picks up a book on fonology for Luke, so he can learn to control the seventh fonon.
-Daath is located on the Padamiyan Continent.
-The Yulia road is a Sephiroth spout that empties into Aramis Spring.
-Yulia is said to have invented most of the technology of her time.
Aramis Spring
-Guy: "About time you showed up, Luke. Hey, you cute your hair. Nice, clean-cut... Looks good."
LUke: (It's just like I saw when I was connected with Asch! Guy waited for me...)
"Guy!"

Guy: "Huh? What is it?"
Luke: "I...I'm not Luke..."
Guy: "Jeez, I don't need you talking like Asch, too."
Luke: "But... I'm a replica..."
Guy: "So? That guy doesn't like to be called Luke, anyway. I say take it."
Luke: "Take it"? Heh heh, you haven't changed a bit."
Guy: "You sure have, though. You don't have to put yourself down so much."
Luke: "I'm not! It's just..."
Guy: "Sure you are. Who cares about names at this point? You could at least look happy to see me, after I went to the trouble of waiting here for you."
Luke: "...You're right. Thanks."
Guy: !
"LUke said thanks?!"
Tear: "He says he's going to change."
Guy flees girl.
Tear: "Looks like you never do..."
-Still the gayest moment in the game |D STILL MAKES ME HAPPY.
-Guy doesn't actually seem all that happy that Luke has changed. It's funny, but I think Guy is the only person who was really okay with Luke as he was. Sure, it wasn't the Luke Guy would swear fealty too, but he didn't HAVE to be for Guy to still like him.
-Guy mentions that Van's betrayal must have been hard on Luke. I wonder if Guy feels at all responsible? He knew what sort of person Van was, that he wasn't something Luke could trust, and he certainly never did anything to discourage it. Furthermore, did Guy know that Van intended to use Luke?
-"It's not like I was acting friendly towards you just because you were my master."
"What?"
"You're you, and Asch is Asch. Replica or whatever, you're real to me." dawww
-"Do you remember? It was after the kidnapping, so I guess it was right after you were born."
"Why, did something happen?"
"I asked you if it was hard not having yoru memory. You said, "You can't go forward if you keep looking back." So you didn't need a past. That's what you told me."
"Hah hah... Man, I was stupid. I didn't 'not need' one-- I didn't have one."
"...Actually, I thought it was pretty insightful."
There is something really hilarious about Luke calling the statement that changed Guy's life stupid >D
-Guy gets annoyed when Luke talks about giving up his own happiness in an effort to make up for Akzeriuth. >D AND HE SHOULD.
-Jade shows up looking for Guy at Aramis Springs. WHY? Because Mohs captured Ion and Natalia. They must have been going back to Daath, since Jade says there aren't any Malkuth forces nearby. GET THAT? Help from Guy = at LEAST a platoon of Malkuth forces =D
-"With the disappearance of Akzeriuth, Kimlasca has begun making preparations for war." Natalia was captured so it wouldn't be reveiled she was still alive.
-Guy's REALLY CUTE. He wants so much for people to like Luke again D= Whaa, he really is a good friend. I'M SORRY I DIDN'T GIVE YOU ENOUGH CREDIT LAST PLAY THROUGH GUY.
-Yulia had ten disciples, and a mention of a Dr. Southern-Cross, all helped think up the technology that lifted the outerlands.
-Jade theorizes that the Sephiroth transfer a planetary life-force to the crust of the planet, which is why volcanos can exist.
Fourth Monument Hill
-Fourth Monument Hill outside of Daath contains, gasp, the fourth monument of the pilgrimage.
-Daath's cathedral is really, really big. And it has these... struts that jut out from it and attach to the walls.
-It's rather sad that party Luke thinks Ingobert WOULD NOT LISTEN about Natalia being alive. Sheesh.
Daath
-The Monument in the center of Daath is the Third.
-Luke would rather have Jade teach him fonology than Tear >D I THINK THIS BOY IS CONFUSED AS TO WHERE THE MOST ABUSE LIES.
-On learning to control fonons: "Don't just close your eyes. Listen for the fonons flowing through the world. Don't listen with your ears. Feel them with every fon slot in your body."
-"Fonons are a combination of air and elemental properties. It's rare to see them, but your fon slots can perceive them. They feel the vibration. Drawing those fonons into your body is the basis of all fonics artes."
-Van intended to ask Tear to be his right hand =\
But Tear shipped Van/Legretta >D
-Hm... Legretta says "but all I can offer is my meager cunning and my memory"? Does she have a photographic memory?
-"Remember that feeling of power overflowing from inside you, of your body trembling... Those are fonons.
-Ahaha. in a skit where Jade checks up on Luke to make sure he isn't falling appart due to being an isofonic replica, he thanks him at the end, and everyone takes a step back >D Luke yells at them. "Would you all quit doing that!" >D
-Anise goes through a large series of emotions when she sees Luke again >D they seem to range from surprised to stupidified to irritated WTG LUKE
...a-and when she sees everyone is with him "Hey, the other are with you too. Wow! ♥ Must be Lorelei's will, huh!" God. Anise is REALLY GOOD at being cruel >D
-Maestro Tritheim is the Minister of Affairs.

Cathedral, Daath
-Anise's mom is named Pamela, dad is Oliver.
-"No kidding. What kind of trip could you take for a measly 10k gald" O luke. good with money as always, no?
-Personal Score reading are held each week during the mass on Remday!
-Cantor Tatlin and cantor Grants. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE RANKS IN DAATH.
-Tartarus can't be repaired for use on land due to mud from the Qliphoth getting into the gears.
-Due to not wanting to alert reinforcement, they have to kill any Oracle Knights they encounter in their rescue attempt on Natalia and Ion =\
-Guy tells Luke that they have to do this, or else War will start and many more people will die. Luke's reaction is a Sad (I'm going to make even more people hate me...) While I don't think this is MAIN CONCERN over killing, being on the outs with all of his friend is probably having it's toll. For all Luke was a brat before, people genuinely liked him for one reason or another. Being hated sucks =\
-The Oracle Knight's Headquarters is more or less a secret. Not quite CIA, but they don't let people who aren't soldiers in. Most soldiers are trained there, low ranking ones live there in the dormitories. Anise was trained in the headquarters, but Tear was trained personally by Major Legretta in Yulia City.
-Despite Jade saying they have to kill the guards, Luke actually just leaves them unconscious >D
-The God-Generals wanted permission to take Ion from Daath, but Mohs refused to give him up.
Daath
-ahaha. Jade makes a reference back to Guy and his "reading about vacation spots" and Guy is like "Don't tell me that you haven't realized yet that that's all a lie" >D THOUGH SERIOUSLY. WHY DOES GUY KNOW? I don't care if you were the heir to Hod or whatever YOU WERE FIVE. YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT MUCH. I suppose he might've spied on Duke Fabre.
-God Luke's SO CUTE. "It's a great big world out there! Now I really want to protect it =D"
-"Lady Thief 001: The Star of Ispania!"
-Luke REALLY never misses the chance to comment on a girl's breast size. Which is HILARIOUS since he never seems particularly perverted about it >D He really sounds like a little kid who knows it GETS to girls, and certainly has a fascination with them. But wouldn't know what to do, given the chance >D O luke.'
Fourth Monument Hill
-I always wondered why it is Luke becomes the team's 'leader'. I think it's because he's always the one saying "let's go".
Daath Port
-Grand Chokmah becomes a fort during war time and the harbor is sealed off.
-Jade thinks Malkuth forces would open fire on him due to the circumstances of his disappearance (his landship was captured, all his men killed, and he disappeared only to reappear on the same landship) but given his placement in the army I find that HIGHLY unlikely. Also given Peony's personality. Couldn't we just have surrounded ourselves on a SHIP instead of walking into the city and doing it?
-None the less, party wants to dock at the busted Rotelro bridge.
-When Luke mentioned that he's connected with Asch and saw everything through his eyes. Jade does his little "hmmmm" thing.
-Keterburg is located on the continet of Silvana. Grand Chokmah is located on Rugnica.
Tartarus
-haha, Natalia has a cruise ship named after her. "The Princess Natalia". Also, the men find the Tartarus comfortable and prefer it to a cruise ship >\ ...Tear wants to float on Tokunaga. >D
Keterburg Bay
-The Mayor of Keterberg is Viscount Osborne.
-Ahaha. Luke's initial reaction to being told to organize a warehouse is "no". YOU'LL LEARN TO LOVE THE MENIAL TASKS LUKE.
-I think Tiger Blade is my new favorite attack. So pretty.
Keterburg
-Peony had to give up on his first love because she was a commoner =\ But he prevents much building from happening within Keterberg because Nephry doesn't want the town exploited. However, building lots of recreational stuff was OKAY. Peony likes them.
-Keterberg is full of RICH BRATS I'm stunned Luke's never been there.
-Rumors that Dr. Nebilim was killed by a Dr. Neis and a Dr. Balfour. (in a skit they spell it Dr. Gniess, I think that's a typo)?
-Tear and Natalia find the casino uncomfortable. Guy expositions that the casino was built back when the area first developed as resort. There's a legend that says if you hit the jackpot on the second slot machine from the end, you win a castle (it's so obviously a lie just to attract customers) GUY WHERE DO YOU GET THIS ENDLESS AMOUNT OF RANDOM, USELESS INFORMATION?
-You can't exchange chips for money at the casino because a previous emperor felt it was immoral to gamble during wartime.
-Guy wishes he had the time to rebuild the manor himself >D
-Oh crap. When you unlock the skit thing it does the one where Stupid!Luke was like "If it's kill or be killed, then dammit, I'm killing!" and when Luke hears that again he's like ... Socute >D
-Okay, Anise got her Tokunaga because she felt bad for Dist, who always ate alone and went to talk to him. He talked about Jade all the time even then, but made Anise's tokunaga change size in response to her fonon frequency. (DIST IS ACTUALLY QUITE SMART)
-Yanu likes black and lives on the left, Marbo is the younger and lives on the right and likes white
-Apparently Peony's mansion in Keterburg looks pretty awesome. Game rendering does not quite show this.
-Peony 'likes every female he lays eyes on.
-Peony was run out of the capitol as a child during a struggle for succession. No one has lived in Peony's mansion since then.
-The throne of Malkuth passes from father to son, though it requires council approval. Tear theorizes that the problems around Peony becoming emperor were because his father had enemies?
-The Emperor three generations before Peony built the casino and hotel in Keterburg. Tear thinks he's hot.
Governor's Residence, Keterburg
-Nephry thought Jade was dead.
-Jade hasn't seen Nephy since her wedding. I kind of wonder if he disapproved? Of course, it's Jade, that only matters so much.
-Nephry knew that Peony was worried about Jade. And Peony apparently didn't believe he was dead >D so cute.
-Even Nephry remarks that Jade isn't the most pleasant human being.
-Nephry herself IS the governor of Keterburg. I remember getting the impression she married the governor but I don’t think they ever mention who she married.
-Upon finding out that Luke is a replica, Nephry is compelled to tell Luke about how Jade created fomicry.
-Jade was nine when he created a replica of his sister's doll. The KEY OF THE STORY HERE is that Jade was crazy, 'normally, you'd simply buy another doll'. Nephry's REALLY HARD on Jade. "As a child my brother was a terror, a devil".
-Jade is, basically, the recovering sociopath. He didn't understand the value of life or death, but upon killing Nebilim and being unable to bring her back, he at least understood loss, I think. As I understand it part of what makes sociopaths what they are is an inability to empathize. Not a failure to understand, but more a failure to really sync in with it and CARE. But when it was a personal loss he probably understood it? Even to this point in the game, Jade is still a clinical person who fails to empathize and only seems to get genuinely agitated when it involves him or someone in specific he cares for, but he's also very capable of pointing out the stuff that he knows normal people would care about and are, thus, important. He's also good with... I don't know, regretting the way he is.
-Anyway, Nebilim was a Seventh Fonist and because of that Jade admired her.
-Jade trying to use the seventh fonon released a fonic arte he couldn't control. He struck down Nebilim and set the building on fire.
-The fact that Jade can create replicas just ON HIS OWN is really quite stunning.
-Ironically, it's after this that Jade's talents were recognized and he was adopted into the famous Curtiss military family.
-It's thanks to Emperor Peony that Jade quit using fomicry and gave up his dream to resurrect Nebilim. All Nephry says is "those two are best friends".
-Nephry thinks Jade still wants to resurrect Nebilim. Luke has more faith in him. It's quite cute.
Keterburg
-Luke's a naughty boy for telling lies =\ Oh jade.
-Jade assures Luke that he has no intention of reviving Nebilim. The reason being that, without her memories, she wouldn't really be Nebilim.
-Jade: "I want to beg Professor Nebilim's forgiveness... so that I might feel better." God Jade is so brutal on himself sometimes.
-Ahaha. Guy doesn't like Keterburg because the woman out in the cold always try to snuggle with him =\ And when Natalia thinks that Tear is talking about Luke being cute for worrying about his tummy freezing, she doesn't seem very possessive >D OF COURSE she knows Asch is alive right now. >D
-For a little while, Anise turns her attentions on Jade, since Luke is a jerk and Guy isn't yet a rich lord >D
-Luke asks Mieu's opinion on the Nebilim thing when he wants to talk about it. It's pretty cute. Luke kinda values his opinion |D
-And then when Jade says he'll punish Luke if he tells anyone the secret, he blushes >D NO ONLY IS THAT REALLY GAY, but Luke blushes at inappropriate times a LOT at this point of the game.
Theor Forest
-When a person dies their fonons disperse back into the fon belt
-Luke has incredibly gay hand gestures.
-Ahaha, Luke is good at hide and seek >D "Excuse me for being sneaky." Guy and Luke playing hide and seek growing up is incredibly cute =\
-The only people Ion can give orders to are the Fon Master Guardians. Sucks to be you, Ion.
-Tear has GOOD REFLEXES. She totally saves Luke's ass from Guy.
-Largo calls Natalia "Princess" =\
-Largo's outfit really IS pink on the edges. I was thinking it was blue for some reason.
Grand Chokmah
-The Floating Capital, Grand Chokmah =D
-"Guy wouldn't have attacked you if he didn't already have a strong desire to kill you."
-Tear really has Luke's number. "If I leave you alone, you're liable to start dreaming up nonsense."
-Fonic Artes can make balls of water float. And also, cities.
-Jade eats at the bar in Grand Chokmah and tells stories to the bar tender. Mysterious. Someone who WANTS Jade's company?
-L-Luke is so proper when he first meets Peony. "This clod can be a real pain, huh?" "N-not at all, Your Majesty..."
-Peony IS kinda topped by the council =\ "We need to evacuated!" "I'd love to, but a lot of the council members are reluctant."
-Issued from Kimlasca: "We hereby denounce Malkuth's destruction of Akzeriuth in order to bring about the deaths of Princess Natalia and the tertiary heir to the throne, Luke fon Fabre. In the name of Lorelei and Yulia, we shall initiate immediate sanctions."
-The guy who stands around and talks for Peony is General Nordheim.
-"Until we heard Jade's story, we'd thought Kimlasca had developed a fontech weapon capable of creating a hyperresonance." Hyperresonance is kind of the word for nuke here >D
-Luke offers himself up to go save St. Binah since Peony can't send troops there. The idea being that if troops go to save St. Binah they will also be wiped out when the land falls.
-Peony mentions that Jade is Sesemann's apprentice.
-PLAN OF ACTION as suggested by Jade: the party and Jade's unit can evacuate St. Binah, while General Nordheim contains the northward moving Kimlascan army. They still have to gain the council's approval =\
-The Seventh Fonon, Explained: "A type of fonon distinct from the First throug Sixth Fonons; unlike them, it is not associated with a particular element. The memory particles that swirl about in the planet's core flow out through the radiation gate, heading for the fon belt. The Planet Storm takes them around Auldrant and then back through the fon belt once more, finally flowing into the core through the Absorption Gate. These memory particles fuse with the First through Sixth Fonons and transform into Seventh Fonons."
-Along with an ability to become a floating fortress, Grand Chokmah can launch battleships through water filled, underground tunnels.

-The Makings of Marking: "Marking" is the act of placing fonic "marks" into others' fon slots so that they are not affected by wide-range fonic artes. These "marks" are not physical objects, but closer to fon verses inscribed on the target. This ensures that the area effect attacks damage only the enemy and not allies. However, it is important to remember that marking only functions when the target is visible to the fonist. limiting the viability of using fonic artes of the battlefield.
-First thing Luke does on seeing Guy again is apologize. It's QUITE CUTE.
-Luke: "I... I must have done something to make you suffer. That's why you..."
Guy: "Ah hah hah. What the hell are you talking about? It's not your fault, Luke. It's not your fault that I hated you so much I wanted to kill you.
...I'm originally from Malkuth."
Anise: "What? Really?"
Guy: "I was born in Hod. On my fifth birthday, my relatives gathered at the mansion. Just as the Scorer started to read my Score, the war began."
Tear: "The Hod War..."
Natalia: "If I recall, it was Duke Fabre who attacked Hod..."
Guy: "Yes. Duke Fabre killed my family, my relatives, our servants. Everyone. He destroyed everything I loved and laughed as he did it. So I set out to make him experience the same thing I did."
Jade: "You entered House Fabre for revenge, then? Gailardia Galan, of the House of Count Gardios."
Guy: "...Oh. You knew, huh?"
Jade: "I noticed a few things, so I investigated. You fight in the Albert style, a technique that doesn't use a shield. It's unique to Hod."
Luke: "...Then, you can't really want to be my side, can you, Guy? I may be a replica, but I'm still a Fabre..."
Guy: "Come on. I mean, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any lingering feelings about it, but..."
Luke: "But...?"
Guy: "If you want me gone, then I'll cut ties with you right now. But if not, could I stick around a little longer? There's still something I want to confirm."
Luke: "...Okay. I trust you. No... I should say... Trust me, Guy. Please."
Guy: "Hah hah. Either way works for me."
Ion: "Thank goodness. I was so worried yu might start fighting."
-Note that GUY IS STILL FIXATED ON THE BET.
-Also, right after this Anise tries to make Ion and herself stay away from St. Binah. Part of her loyalty to Mohs or just genuine concern for Ion?
-Guy won't admit that he hates Asch because he doesn't want Natalia to overhear, he keeps avoiding it, but Luke looks VERY SAD about this. He also says that St. Binah was his first place of refuge after escaping Hod.
-Guy uses the Sigmund-style, which is a branch off of the Albert-style Luke and Van use. Sigmund learned the sword from Fleil Albert. But to protect Yulia and Albert and act as their advance guard, he improved upon what he learned, creating the Sigmund style. Fearing that, if it became well known, it would publicize the weaknesses of the Albert style, he decreed the style's techniques be passed down orally.
-The only users of the Sigmund style are the house of Gardios and those connected with it. This is mainly to hide the technique from Kimlasca's royalty.
-"The impact of the Outer Lands' descent into the Qliphoth exposed land strata north of Grand Chokmah" upon which was found the Ancient Ispanian scroll. It contains this sonnet:

-Anise tries to make Luke feel better... apparently so he'll shut up >D it's kinda cute.
-Luke likes to fish for complements from Tear after battles >D
St. Binah
-Sir whathisface is to send his troops to join General Nordheim's once St. Binah is evacuated.
-This whole thing really is meant to just show such a HUGE difference in how Luke has changed since Akzeriuth, which wasn't all that long ago. It's super cute =\ WHENEVER I WORRY LUKE TRIES TOO HARD I'M GONNA REMEMBER THIS SCENE.
-Kaizer Dist has flowers painted on him.
-The Order excavated the hover drive Guy talks about.
-"There's a force field called the 'dividing line' between the Qliphoth and the Outer Lands." The crust falls faster aftere crossing that line.
-Sheridan is on the Radessia continent.
-A fon slot seal is "like being forced to walk underwater while wearing weights" >D Jade wants to do it to Luke =\
Sheridan
-Sheridan is technically part of Kimlasca but it's really the world center for fon machines. Not only do they make land cruisers and battle ships for Kimlasca, but also for Malkuth. I'm not sure how that part works. The rocks in the meggiora highlands are invaluable for making fon machines and LUKE YELLS AT GUY TO SHUT UP IF HE TALKS ABOUT THESE THINGS TOO MUCH.

Yulia City
-The first and second Sephiroth maintain the planet storm. And the fifth and eight maintain the Albertesue seal.
-The first layer of the defense of the Sephiroth are the Daathic seals that prevent people from entering the Sephiroth. Then the Albertesque seal which prevents the Sephiroth as a whole from being tampered with, and finally the Yulian seals, which I'm sure do something nifty.
-Van was made fun of when he came to the Qliphoth for being an ignorant child of the outerlands. After that he caught flak for rising through the ranks in the Order so quickly, so he grew a beard to look as old as he could.
-Hod was the eighth Sephiroth, and Akzeriuth was the fifth, making the Albertesque seal broken.
-Tear knows all of the symbols for Yulia's Hymns but the third and the fifth, but she only understands the first and the second. Mental note to keep an eye out for when she learns the others.
-The Grand Fonic Hymn (all seven of Yulia's Hymn strung together) is the symbol of the covenant between Lorelei and Yulia Jue.
-It's said that the Grand Fonic Hymn, and the Key of Lorelei together can summon Lorelei.

-I think the 'prosperity' people want from the score is the like the promise of heaven, or a rebirth, in other religions. I didn't think of it that way before, because it's so material, but if it's the only undefined promise of hope they have to look forward to, of course that's what people cling to.
-The Order of Lorelei is literally a tool to manipulate the world into following the score to prosperity.

-Guy doesn't actually seem all that happy that Luke has changed. It's funny, but I think Guy is the only person who was really okay with Luke as he was. Sure, it wasn't the Luke Guy would swear fealty too, but he didn't HAVE to be for Guy to still like him.
-Guy mentions that Van's betrayal must have been hard on Luke. I wonder if Guy feels at all responsible? He knew what sort of person Van was, that he wasn't something Luke could trust, and he certainly never did anything to discourage it. Furthermore, did Guy know that Van intended to use Luke?

-Rumors that Dr. Nebilim was killed by a Dr. Neis and a Dr. Balfour. (in a skit they spell it Dr. Gniess, I think that's a typo)?
-Tear and Natalia find the casino uncomfortable. Guy expositions that the casino was built back when the area first developed as resort. There's a legend that says if you hit the jackpot on the second slot machine from the end, you win a castle (it's so obviously a lie just to attract customers) GUY WHERE DO YOU GET THIS ENDLESS AMOUNT OF RANDOM, USELESS INFORMATION?

-Nephry thought Jade was dead.
-Jade hasn't seen Nephy since her wedding. I kind of wonder if he disapproved? Of course, it's Jade, that only matters so much.
-Nephry knew that Peony was worried about Jade. And Peony apparently didn't believe he was dead >D so cute.
-Even Nephry remarks that Jade isn't the most pleasant human being.
-Nephry herself IS the governor of Keterburg. I remember getting the impression she married the governor but I don’t think they ever mention who she married.
-Upon finding out that Luke is a replica, Nephry is compelled to tell Luke about how Jade created fomicry.
-Jade was nine when he created a replica of his sister's doll. The KEY OF THE STORY HERE is that Jade was crazy, 'normally, you'd simply buy another doll'. Nephry's REALLY HARD on Jade. "As a child my brother was a terror, a devil".
-Jade is, basically, the recovering sociopath. He didn't understand the value of life or death, but upon killing Nebilim and being unable to bring her back, he at least understood loss, I think. As I understand it part of what makes sociopaths what they are is an inability to empathize. Not a failure to understand, but more a failure to really sync in with it and CARE. But when it was a personal loss he probably understood it? Even to this point in the game, Jade is still a clinical person who fails to empathize and only seems to get genuinely agitated when it involves him or someone in specific he cares for, but he's also very capable of pointing out the stuff that he knows normal people would care about and are, thus, important. He's also good with... I don't know, regretting the way he is.
-Anyway, Nebilim was a Seventh Fonist and because of that Jade admired her.
-Jade trying to use the seventh fonon released a fonic arte he couldn't control. He struck down Nebilim and set the building on fire.
-The fact that Jade can create replicas just ON HIS OWN is really quite stunning.
-Ironically, it's after this that Jade's talents were recognized and he was adopted into the famous Curtiss military family.
-It's thanks to Emperor Peony that Jade quit using fomicry and gave up his dream to resurrect Nebilim. All Nephry says is "those two are best friends".
-Nephry thinks Jade still wants to resurrect Nebilim. Luke has more faith in him. It's quite cute.

These "marks" are not physical objects, but closer to fon verses inscribed on the target. This ensures that the area effect attacks damage only the enemy and not allies. However, it is important to remember that marking only functions when the target is visible to the fonist. limiting the viability of using fonic artes of the battlefield.
-First thing Luke does on seeing Guy again is apologize. It's QUITE CUTE.

Natalia: "If I recall, it was Duke Fabre who attacked Hod..."
Guy: "Yes. Duke Fabre killed my family, my relatives, our servants. Everyone. He destroyed everything I loved and laughed as he did it. So I set out to make him experience the same thing I did."
Jade: "You entered House Fabre for revenge, then? Gailardia Galan, of the House of Count Gardios."
Guy: "...Oh. You knew, huh?"
Jade: "I noticed a few things, so I investigated. You fight in the Albert style, a technique that doesn't use a shield. It's unique to Hod."
Luke: "...Then, you can't really want to be my side, can you, Guy? I may be a replica, but I'm still a Fabre..."
Guy: "Come on. I mean, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any lingering feelings about it, but..."
Luke: "But...?"
Guy: "If you want me gone, then I'll cut ties with you right now. But if not, could I stick around a little longer? There's still something I want to confirm."
Luke: "...Okay. I trust you. No... I should say... Trust me, Guy. Please."
Guy: "Hah hah. Either way works for me."
Ion: "Thank goodness. I was so worried yu might start fighting."
-Note that GUY IS STILL FIXATED ON THE BET.
-Also, right after this Anise tries to make Ion and herself stay away from St. Binah. Part of her loyalty to Mohs or just genuine concern for Ion?
-Guy won't admit that he hates Asch because he doesn't want Natalia to overhear, he keeps avoiding it, but Luke looks VERY SAD about this. He also says that St. Binah was his first place of refuge after escaping Hod.
-Guy uses the Sigmund-style, which is a branch off of the Albert-style Luke and Van use. Sigmund learned the sword from Fleil Albert. But to protect Yulia and Albert and act as their advance guard, he improved upon what he learned, creating the Sigmund style. Fearing that, if it became well known, it would publicize the weaknesses of the Albert style, he decreed the style's techniques be passed down orally.
-The only users of the Sigmund style are the house of Gardios and those connected with it. This is mainly to hide the technique from Kimlasca's royalty.
