Repeat

Hyunseung knows he has a reputation for being a perfectionist. There are rumors at the dance studio about how he can go on for hours, practicing the same moves over and over until it seems like his body knows nothing but that one routine. To be honest, Hyunseung doesn't hate it.

He loves the feeling of executing moves in the perfect sequence, of knowing that the actions are so ingrained in his body's memory that he could do them over and over until his body was begging him to stop.

Luckily for Hyunseung, it never does.

He can't quite explain it, the idea that he never really tires. His body sweats, but that's about it really. His body never cramps and he never feels like he's overheated even though the sweat is coming down in streams and it seems like that's all the encouragement he'll ever need to go on practicing -- dancing and dancing until he falls dead.

When he first learns about his body and its lack of limitations, he's skeptical. Maybe it's a disease only he's weird enough to have, maybe he's really a monster wearing human clothing. But as he dances and dances, it just feels right to keep pushing at limits he'll never reach and reaching for perfection that appears right in front of his grasp.

But then one day, he meets Yong Junhyung and it all comes crashing down.

Because Yong Junhyung -- Poppin' Dragon -- Hyunseung thinks, scowling to himself, he's just not natural. They go to the same dance studio and everyone always talks about how Yong Junhyung puts in the least time of all of the kids who drop by, but dances like one of the best. He's perfection already at its peak, even without all of the hard work Hyunseung has to put into his own dancing and Hyunseung hates him for that.

Especially when he overhears Junhyung saying shit like "Practicing all of the time doesn't work" and "Hard work hardly works" because it feels like a personal insult to everything Hyunseung believes in.

Sure, Hyunseung may have the limitless stamina, the ability to dance for days until someone forces him to stop. But Yong Junhyung has the natural talent that Hyunseung can never replace.

"I don't though," Junhyung says one day out of the blue, when the door of the dance studio has been meticulously locked. Hyunseung almost freaks out, but he knows that even if Junhyung beats him at dancing, he's got Junhyung beat at stamina. He could take him on forever if needed, if it came down to that.

"You don't what?" Hyunseung asks suspiciously, all of his rage at Junhyung and his flawlessness boiling right under the surface.

Junhyung pauses, looking around cautiously. Right when Hyunseung wants to tell him to get on with it, Junhyung grabs his arm and shushes him.

"I don't get it perfect on the first try like everyone says," he admits sullenly, "I practice, just like you do. You're probably the only one who'll understand me."

Hyunseung wants to ask what the hell he's talking about, but then he sees the reflection of the sun in the mirror behind Junhyung's head, and it's so much lighter in the room than it was a second ago. The sky is blue again, and he swears the sun was lower in the sky than that just a second ago.

And then he sees the clock, and sees it's one hour ago.

Last in a set of three superpower!Beast drabbles. The prompt for this 15 minute challenge was childhood, and I picked my immature, unfounded childhood rivalry with a girl who I have so much in common with. We used to always compete because our parents kept comparing us even though we didn't meet until high school. Anyway, in this, Hyunseung has super-stamina and Junhyung controls time. The title references how Hyunseung can keep on repeating dance routines and Junhyung can keep repeating time until they both get their dances right.
