So far, pretty productive.
Good, busy, productive weekend!
Friday: cake tasting! When I read that there are four layers of cake and three layers of filling, I figured that meant each tier was a different type of cake, and one tier with no filling (I assumed four tiers was normal). Well, I was wrong. It meant that each TIER has four layers of cake and three layers of filling. How fun! So we have a four tier cake with a flowery vine going up the side, with red flowers. Here is the best image I could find:
Their cake has smooth sides, whereas we have some raised dots, and ours is round and not as starkly edged. The bottom and top tiers are white cake with lemon and raspberry mousse, and the middle two tiers are vanilla and chocolate chiffon with chocolate mousse. Cannot wait!
I also finished the invitations I had here. All I need to do is make labels for Hans' invites and Lowell's parents' (still waiting on addresses from the latter...), make some more inserts, and we'll be set.
Saturday: dress bustling! The bustle cost FAR less than I had expected. However, the dress is VERY tight on top. It doesn't look bad, but it could look better. Must really get to work. Sarah also ordered her dress, and Alex got fitted for hers. We are all going to look so lovely!
I also finalised some things on my cell phone. On Friday, it decided to reset itself, erase all my contacts and photos, and stop working in general. After discussing a few things with Lowell, it was decided I would just make an insurance claim on my phone as opposed to upgrading it, and we would talk about upgrading in January, when my contract is negotiable. We did that Saturday, so my phone should be shipped to Cathedral in the next few days. It's actually a downgrade, from what I can see, but since my current phone is no longer made, there's not much else I can do.
After running a few more errands, we came home and had a relaxing Saturday night. We ate Chinese food, watched Oceans Eleven and Twelve (we hadn't seen either; only Thirteen), and then crashed. Lovely.
Today: As many of my friends have also lamented, I am having difficulty sleeping much past six AM anymore. By six-thirty, I gave up and got going on my day. I mailed the first batch of invitations, took a mile or so walk with Lowell, updated the wedding registries, and looked at more centerpiece stuff. It looks like we'll be doing alternating size/shape vases on a "bed" of silk rose petals. The vases will have river stones in them, and either floating candles or carnations, since that's my favourite flower. We'll be making a mockup soon to see how that'll work. Lowell has been asked to hit his parents up for their addresses today, too. If I can get those, I can mail the second batch of invitations tomorrow, and that'll be done!
I also have to wash all the drinking implements, do laundry, clean out our closet, fix the closet door, wash the front window, and clean off the tables in the living room.
And play Final Fantasy XII. This is a must.
