Good Morning!

What's exciting in my life: Veda has learned that, if I am holding her, and a moving object passes behind my body (from her point of view), it will reappear on the other side of me! If something that she is watching, say, a cat walking across the room, is blocked from view by my body, she will throw her body to the other side of me and crane her head wildly to find the cat. She doesn't like to miss any of the action. I assume this also means that she is aware that the cat exists even when she cannot see it, otherwise she would just leave it alone after it passes out of view. She's been doing that with cars, too, for a little while, but I thought that was a response to the sound of the car.

Also! She has known for awhile that she is capable of grabbing interesting things that I am holding, and I have learned that this is not always a good thing. So sometimes I will tuck her hand into a few of my fingers before I handle objects that will pique her interest (envelopes, keys, cat food, chapstick, drinking cups full of juice, etc.). But she has now learned that she can reach around and grab whatever it is with her other hand! Guys! Babies are kind of neat!

Percy the cat is doing well. I took out the drain last night. One would typically leave it in another day or two but it was healing up so nicely that the drain wasn't necessary. Surprisingly, Percy sat still on my lap while I removed the sutures that held the drain in. She (Percy is a girl) was even purring, and allowed me to cuddle her after I was done.

One day soon, I will try to show you some pictures of Veda. She is nearly six months old now.
