posting an entry before flying off for Japan! this feels like pre-FB pre-data days all over again, where the best feeling was logging in to LJ at the airport's free computer terminals and posting a "Japan, see you in hours!" entry. now? check-in, lah. upload selfie. tag yourself peeps. hashtag hashtag.

anyway, i went for a full manicure and pedicure after work just now, and already screwed up one of the toenails urgh. but i liked the new nail salon and the manicurist enough to be talked into signing up a $250 package for $300 worth of services. the salon was new, nicely-maintained and white-light bright enough so that i don't end up choosing the wrong colours for my nails like what i did in another yellow-light dim-lit salon. i wanted a nudish colour for my toes then, and i came out with something way too pinkish for my liking. also, this manicurist was really thorough and cleaned my toenails very well. i'm a lazy arse, i admit, and with my frequent gym/yoga practice, my feet and toenails are often in pretty bad shape. especially my cuticles; they grow so fast and are so dry and flaky!

just as equally excited i am for the Japan trip, i can't wait for the national day long weekend! i'm going to catch up on sleep, unpack my luggage, do my laundry, pack and throw stuff, and just laze around and slack and watch my backlog of takarazuka dvds haha! there's actually plenty of things i wanna do at home but i've been putting them off until this long weekend comes.

oh and did i mention i binge-shopped on dot.st, and now my shipping costs from tenso has ballooned three-fold. my stupidity amazes me to no end. wtf was i thinking?!

and my darling manjacat is in pretty bad shape now. she went missing for a few days, and i never gave it much thought as she's prone to going missing for days. but when she suddenly showed up, she had this huge circular wound on the left side of her torso and i could see her flesh underneath! i can't describe how awful it felt when the chills went down my spine and i helpless and stomach-wrenched when i saw the wound. the next day i got my ex-boss to send in his cage even though he was on leave, but as fellow cat lovers he was equally shocked when he saw manjacat's wound photo.

that night i tried to catch her into the cage so that i can bring her to the vet the next day, but she was smart and ran away whenever i closed in with the cage. eventually my brother-in-law came with thick gloves, grabbed her by the neck and literally dropped her into the cage. we quickly took her to the vet the next day, thank goodness her wound wasn't infected or growing maggots yet, so the vet was pretty confident that she's going to recover soon. she was constantly growling while at the vet and kept knocking against the cage door in a bid to escape. the vet held her down and gave her an antibiotics jab, then sedated her so that they could clean her wound properly. as she needed fresh changes of bandage everyday, we asked for the vet to let her stay in the clinic for a week, luckily there was an available slot so they took her in. two days after she was warded i visited her after work, she had a huge bandage on her torso and she was meowing so pitifully! oh how my heart broke! initially i was hesitant to try and pet her, but i started stroking her head gently and she went from meowing to purring. my manja!!!

some may think that i shouldn't bother so much about community or stray cats, but if i didn't want to care, then i shouldn't have fed or even played with her in the first place. this vet stay is not going to be cheap, i know, but i'd rather get hit by the money, than the guilt of seeing her wound getting worse and not doing something about it while the wound was still manageable.

aah, didn't expect the entry to turn out this long. am resisting the urge to take a nap now so that i'd be so tired by the time i board the plane, i'd sleep all the way until i arrive in Tokyo!
