I watched Toy Story 3 last night and bawled until after we left the theatre. WHO ELSE CRIED PATHETICALLY. sdkfjdk I was so sad about it last night lmao.
I mean, sure, little kids would have loads of fun watching it, but I honestly think the message was meant for big ole kids like me, who grew up on the series, and are at the same point in their lives as Andy is. Going off to college, leaving behind toys happy memories of childhood...
I'm hoping it's not completely ridiculous that I'm thinking so deeply about a children's movie, but...man. This movie sort of scared me. Was growing up a sudden thing, or gradual? Because I don't remember when I grew up, when I lost sight of being a kid, and just...faced reality. It's really sad.
And I remember the first day of college. I was sad then because it felt like I was leaving behind my past, my good past, my friends. Which Andy probably felt with his toys. Sure, he could always go to Bonnie's to see them, and I can always go to UPD/UST/AC, but... the feeling of non-physical distance is still there. We're all moving on.
...But anyway! Yeah. I really felt like a kid again, watching the movie (chose non-3D because the glasses are recycled, GROSS). It was really good.
Dad tells me I used to hardcore believe in aliens. I remember fighting with him about whether the aliens on TV were real. I got so mad when he just said they're were just SFX, lmao. /was a very stubborn kid. didn't seem to change XD (Happy Father's Day to all your dads, btw!)
