crooked eye... resolved?

after all the commotion, i went to the eye doctor today. she said everyone's eyes wander at sometime, especially if you have one that's way better than the other. she examined me and determined i am a "classic monofixator" which is a good thing for me because people that do that rarely ever end up with that crazy eye business i was worried about ( Read more... )

thank goodness your eye isn't serious or going to get worse. eye surgery is really not good, and i can't ever really recommend the cleveland clinic for eye problems. they are good at everything else but the eyes.

good grief, you really do have the best doctors. recommend that dentist to me! does s/he do retainers? i really need to go get one.

i just made an appointment to get my thyroid checked and a cholesterol/glucose screening. god, i feel so old.

i agree about the clinic. she was talking about two different types of surgery, one is like regular muscle surgery on adults which is more common, then there's a specialized procedure only certain people do. most likely i won't ever need it, or if i do it likely won't come up again until i'm in my fifties. she seemed to think this monofixation thing is pretty good protection against getting a "wandering" or as i would say, "crazy", eye.

oh!! and i also found out that i have calico eyes! she pointed it out to me when we looked really closely. she was like, "i bet one of your parents had really dark eyes and one had really light." and since they're mostly brown, they'll tend to get less eyes diseases such as eye cancer (which i always thought was a joke and never actually existed, because i have a friend that always shouts at bad drivers that he hopes they get cancer of the eye).
i don't know if the dentist does retainers or braces at all. they're called five points dentistry, down in strongsville. give them a call? i also forgot ( ... )

apparently, getting your thyroid checked is just a blood test, as is the cholesterol/glucose screening, so i'm sure if you called your doctor and asked for it, you could just stop in quickly and have the blood drawn and be right out of there. i don't know which hospital you go to, but i had a lot of luck with going to fairview for simple bloodwork. i think the longest i was in there was maybe 20 minutes, but that's because they took 8 viles from me.

and calico eyes! i want to look closely at your eyes next time i see you!

and wow, about the crowns being made right there! when I had my crown and bridge put in, where my dentist got the crown from fucked it up completely and made it way too big for my mouth. 3 times. finally my dentist got really pissed off and fixed it himself. i think we ended up getting that for free, even though it was under my mom's dental insurance anyway. I'm so going to give them a call.

i should call and follow up with that, probably in about a month when school settles down and such.

yeah, it actually is very weird, it's something i didn't notice until she shined a very bright light in them and had a magnifying mirror. then you look at the irises and you see they're brown, but they have stripes in them that are like a dark bluish purple. so when you just look at them, then all look brown. it's interesting...

i've never had a crown so i don't know anything about it, but i know that damn new machine was all the dentist talked about for several hours. he was really excited, said they'd been saving up for it for a while. five points dentistry. they're great. :)

I'm glad to hear your eye is semi strait. I do remember them telling me when I had my surgery as a kid that they wanted to do it then, and not wait till i got older. I guess its an operation best done on the young.

And congrats on the strait boobs too. Lopsided boobs will get you a job in the circus, but they look strange.

you're luck you had the surgery. i've been bitching at my mom, because apparently if you take your child to the eye doctor early enough and actually have them checked, they can correct a lot of vision problems and you can get 20/20 vision. although mine is still only 20/30 with the good eye.. but still.

my little brother had that surgery as a kid... it helped a lot, but it is still crossed so I dunno....

I never noticed so I guess it isn't all that much to worry about..
