Major Update

May 03, 2007 06:58

I've written about 5 "half" posts that are still stuck in private because I never get back to finishing them. *sigh* I've got to get out of editor mode when it comes to lj... I'm just interrupted too much. So I'm combining some of the stuff and actually posting it.

So here goes - House: We did NOT sell our South Park house. The buyer's mortgage fell through to the point that they are going to rent the place from us for a year and then try again next May. This isn't an awful scenario for us, as we do get out of paying a double mortgage, but it sorta sucks in that any money we could have gotten out of the place we don't receive for a full year. So, we are in major catch up mode with trying to pay for all the things the new house needs (it needs the sewer system hooked into the city, as we are being required by the city to get off of septic), without having the boost the old house sale would have given us.

Kids: Werner has been sick, sick, sick. I know he has a sinus infection that antibiotics just haven't cleared up. I'm taking him to the doctor for the 3rd time this coming Monday. It has definitely made him irritable. On other news he is starting 3rd grade math/2nd grade everything else, according to his CyberSchool. It will be interesting to see how long those last him, as I think he is at least approaching his actual grade level. All the stuff we had gotten so far had been review, so I don't know what it will be like to try to use this curriculum to actually teach. He's very sarcastic when it comes to doing work that is "beneath him," so I'm looking forward to getting away from this review stage. Here's my example: He said he couldn't read the 1st grade Science book as it was so boring it was impossible to read through. So I read him the chapter on ponds (so we could say we completed the book). After ROLLING his eyes at the explanation that ponds only freeze on the top during the winter (which he saw as really obvious), he then said "what I REALLY want to know is how the oxygen gets in the water during the winter. After all, the fish still need oxygen... they just extract it with their gills. How does the water manage to get more oxygen when ice is blocking the air?" I gave my typical answer of "ask your father!" Anyway, he really loves his homeschooling group and I know Summer will be hard on him when he can't see his friends.

Elisabeth is almost 3 (June 5th), which is amazing to me. She is very outgoing and is expressing her gemini nature by either radiating joy or screaming at the top of her lungs. Remember how Werner used to be really shy and clingy to me? Well this little girl loves everybody, and seems to hardly care where I'm at or if I've abandoned her. I consider her my "please abduct me!" child and I have to pay special attention to her in stores. We are all done with her preschool stuff and she is gently moving into kindergarten. I worry that I don't treat teaching her with the same enthusiasm as I do Werner. Everything is just a repeat of what I've already done... and quite frankly she has hit all the milestones that she needs to in a much easier fashion than Werner did. I remember being all excited when Werner learned his letter sounds and could count (and being terrified I'd be unable to teach him to read). Now it just feels like I'm casually checking off a list that I know she will inevitably progress through. Maybe this is just 2nd child syndrome or something.

Me: I'm being really displeased with my body not working properly. I had this foot problem that only somewhat got resolved, and now I've severely strained my neck. Getting through the day HURTING is not something I'm used to. I want to get pregnant in about a month or two, and I'm really worried on how this last pregnancy is going to go physically. I want a third child... I just wish I could pick up a 6 mth old baby and get on with it (yes, I'm not too fond of little babies either). I'm liking my job working for Lou (the paralyzed guy), as he is much more easy going and interesting than Charlie (the guy I worked for in Oregon). The only work I currently want more of is editing... and if my husband would finish writing then I've got a current book on the table. I like living just up the hill from Mom, and I'm seeing a lot of her. While it's nice to have the occasional daycare, it also makes me realize that my relationship with her has permanently changed to me feeling like her caretaker. On Thursdays I go over and clean her house/help her with projects etc. So that's where I'm off today (and she'll give the kids an art lesson while I'm doing my work).

OK... signing off before I feel like I'm writing the next great novel.
