This will seem like a random vote, but it's the closest I could come to in terms of a character who is lazy, impulsive, competent in educational fields, and a realist all in one: Bumi. While you're not as... whacky as he is, he's very independent but can take up the leadership position if he feels he needs to. He's very much a realist, and many of his actions seem to be thought up on the fly. He has rather "immature" hobbies even in his old age, yet can be remarkably sober in serious circumstances. "Friendly, interesting, intelligent" are all words I'd use to describe him as well.
