The emperors Constantine and Theodosius did a great disservice to Christianity. Their patronage robbed Christians of their spiritual power by making them a force for power. First there was Constantine, whose edict of Milan and dubious conversion legitimized the seed of what grew to be the Roman Catholic Church.

In all my musings about early Christianity and defense of Paul it has never occurred to me that Paul never once quoted the words of Jesus.
