Revisiting the old...

Feb 28, 2011 19:25

So I made myself unplug this weekend in an effort of a couple of days of absolute peace. I do it every now and again when I start losing patience with... well everything. As I'm sure many people can sympathise with the hectic pace of life today can make me a little crazy. In preparation for my unplugged weekend I pulled out my printed copies of Melindaleo's Power of Emotion and Curse of the Damned and I have to say its making me nostalgic. I'm halfway through CoD and I am already making a list of old fan fiction to revisit, dinky dye originals like After the End and a the newer classics like Rebuilding Life. I have found much amusement in how many times I have read PoE and CoD (yet still enjoy it and cry just as much as the first time) and how much the reread is clarifying what is NOT cannon. I could have sworn Melinda's tortured Harry was the genuine article lol. When you've read as much fan fiction as I have the lines get a little blurry especially since good fan fiction most times are more desirable then books 6 & 7 (No offence intended J.K I love you). Anyway the nostalgia is stirring warm and fuzzy feelings and even though I have never been into the movies as much as the books (what avid reader could be?) its making me a little sad that we are awaiting the very last new release Harry Potter. I am holding out hope that the gaping hole will be filled by some brilliant new fan fiction.
