I am a semi smart monkey and collected good spring water last time I was there and all week + I have been using it to rinse out my empty tooth holes, thereby absorbing the lithium contained within. MMMmmm...Lithium. The high salt content helps the healing, which is coming right along. Not so itchy anymore. Yay. So I did get some, one way or the other I guess. I think the full body dip is much preferable. Next week...day after Xmas. WOnder if theyll be open??
Spent the afternoon and evening with Jodie (Josh disappeared early on???)getting some music together to perform to at first night and practicing poi mostly. Of course I want to use music I like and that makes me want to move alot, but keeping in mind that this is for a very ?? audience I dont want to be too hardcore with the music...it needs to be fairly accessable. Or at least pretend to be. We decided to use 2 songs by Vast( Touched and Here, i think) and the Hindi/Diamond song from Moulin Rouge to end. I think it will be good. Set 2 will be some Covenant perhaps ( Jodie really wants to spin to Dead Stars by Covenant) and ???? and I really really want to spin to Ornaments of Gold by Siouxsie, but dont know how it would go over. It most likely would be fine and probably nobody will really notice anyway, they'll be noticing FIRE!!! Decisions, decisions. It's nice to be able to have the choice to ultimately do what ever I want to do. SHE may very well ring from the downtown streets...aahhhh.oohhh.aaahhh.
SO...
I am taking advantage of all the musically inclined folks here: What music would you use?? For this event specifically, being First Night downtown on New Years eve in front of Abravanel Hall. It needs to be a fairly fast tempo. Any and all suggestions are welcome and wanted. Random heckling and sarcasm are to be expected :) feel free por favor
I got way too fried listening to all that music. I was there for about 7 hours. All the things I thought would be good to use didnt seem so good after running them thru our "appeal to the masses" filter. We did figure out at least 3 really cool moves we can do together and I may be a small step closer to getting the behind the back weave. Then we looked at a bunch of fire performance photos from Burning Man over the years and a few fire troupes out of Oregon and SAn Fran that are beyond belief! I felt like a complete novice. So much to do...create *learn* build *practice...AAGH! But we did get alot of excellent ideas. Basically it comes down to figuring out how to build your own cool fire toys. My fingers are coming along, but now Im already rethinking my final plan. The wire I have may be too heavy. But it would be perfect for armature for a head peice. I want a big crown of fire, lotus shaped, coming off to the sides almost with the indian/onion shapes, maybe some copper peices behind, wicks along the tips... fire rambling, I know.
Part two is getting my ass in shape and get more flexible for behind the back moves, floor work, stronger arms, etc.
Part three...costuming. We didnt even talk about that yet!!! I was thinking keep it simple and wear black whatever but it's never that simple. I need to get my shit together enough so I can have Donna make me that fire corset I'm imagining and other things too but I lack the fundage currently. I am happy to have the 6 dollar pseudo corset I found at the DI. It's black with red down the front, kinda brocade fabric, laces up the front, zips up the back. Has a matching skirt. Clearly came from Hot Gothic. Oh, I mean Topic. I am thanking whichever one of you out there gave that away!!! I like it alot. Madelyn gave me some clothes the other day, which have turned out to be very likeable as well. Thank you my dear!
I feel overwhelmed right now...but in a good way, i think...I want chocolate, but have none. I notice I have been eating way too much lately so I distracted myself into NOT going to the store and buying more. I need to eat better...more fruits and veggies. I just dont like to cook. RRrrr....
San Francisco beckons...
