west coast
a lot to cram in, but if i don't put it down today, i'm not going to...
flew into SeaTac tuesday night and hung out at the hotel bar listening to horrible, drunken karaoke. i headed off to bed when i realized it was about 5am for me body-time.
woke up earlyish on wednesday, got some breakfast and then sat around waiting for Mika and Chris. it was completely awesome of them to show me around Seattle for the day. we bounced up to Kenmore for a bit and hung out with frozen_soul and then hit Gas Works Park - which was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip aside from people; i got some great shots i'll post as soon as i have drive space. it started to rain when we headed downtown, but we wandered around anyway. i was amazed that the driving in Seattle seemed even more confusing than Boston.
after Seattle we trekked down to Olympia and scouted out a hotel for me and then grabbed some dinner at a little joint down the street. it was like a wraps and healthy-food place...with a bar in it. bizarre, but the staff were really nice. we hung out for quite a while before they took off and i stayed behind to close the place and stumble back to my room.
thursday, i killed the morning wandering or in coffee shops and then met up with M & C for lunch and killed the afternoon hanging out with the two of them at one coffee shop, then another, playing Scrabble with C. the rest of the day i spent wandering - never did make it to the capitol building - then met up with them again for a quick, post-dinner dinner (dinner being a nice chicken-fried steak, corn, mac-n-cheese 'n sweet potatoes...all done right - post-dinner being squid).
friday morning i got me a nice southern breakfast, complete with grits and biscuit. afterward, i picked up a rental car and headed out to Evergreen so M could show me around. i had some time to kill so i wandered around campus and some of the surrounding trails. pretty impressive...even a private beach =)
friday evening i headed down to Portland, checked in to The Jupiter(awesome), grabbed some dinner with catalyst and cemeterygates at the Doug Fir(also awesome), grabbed an hour of relaxing and then headed to Noir to sit in the basement and chill with cemeterygates, catalyst, pdx42, _sister_madly_, victoria7, joezippo et al.
this is getting long and has been sitting on my desk for two days...quick wrap-up...
saturday we saw the Peace Park and wandered downtown Portland for a while. saturday night was pdx42's birthday party. i had a great time and it was nice to meet so many new people. i had to run out around two so i could sleep before my 11am flight sunday, but i plan on going back before too long
excellent trip in all; a little rushed. i got to relax. it was good space for myself and 0uroborus at just the right time as well.
i've tons of pictures and nowhere to offload them, so they'll have to wait.
