Homes is an English surname. Hughes is Irish. Every Hughes at the table was effusive in complimenting the soup, brisket and bread. The lone Englishwoman ate a small portion of beef and carrots(England is the world's only country in which carrots top potatoes in consumption. :I) and said that she doesn't like potato soup and doesn't like raisins in her bread. It was so stereotypically perfect I didn't complain. Pfft~
