Just a quick update while the computer is available and Dad's not around....
I returned yesterday evening after being told that Mom who is currently detoxing off her pain meds (long long story- but she's been on pain meds x 6 years for chronic back pain that can't be improved with surgery). She's been having very mild pain but has had to take a very high dose of her pain meds because of the dependency she's developed. Her MD advised her to take another medication that would help her detox off what she's currently on and eventually the idea is that she would be off medications until an exacerbation occured at which time a lower dose could be prescribed -
sounds like a great option- however- they didn't prepare her for the severity of what this would include and she's going through a lot right now. My Dad of course has been having a fit about this, because he's scared that she won't be able to come off the meds at all- apparently through some research he did online, the medication she's taking to come off the pain meds is also addictive and people are reporting that detoxing off of that is even worse.
certainly this is a grave concern- but he's just not coping too well because of this stress. There's more to tell and explain, but I just don't have the time (nor does anyone really care to read about it) so I'll leave at that.
His paranoia has returned, although he hasn't been belligerent so it's not too bad. Just not sure what we're going to do about the paranoia.
