While dressing the baby i nanny this morning i was struck by the adorable little pockets on her adorable little red fleece pants. And i realized that many, many baby clothes come complete with pockets. I don't get it. What is a six-month old going to do with pockets? For that matter, what is a three-month old going to do with pockets? I've seen cargo pants for newborns for Pete's sake! I'm fairly certain that infants aren't going to be fishing around their pockets for a swiss army knife or pack of smokes. Hell, they're not even going to be keeping their hands warm in there. Pockets on baby clothes just strike me as A) a waste of fabric and B) a waste of time on the part of the poor Indonesian child who had to sew the damn thing on there.
I don't really have a problem with pockets, per se, but i just fail to understand them on one who doesn't need them and furthermore wouldn't know what to do with them even if they knew they were there.
That is all. You may go back to your regularly scheduled programming.
