Title: Ulterior Motives
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Wordcount: 221
Rating: PG
Characters: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson-ish
Summary: After a rotten day at work, John comes home to find his flat mate in a peculiarly altruistic mood... of course, it just wouldn't be Sherlock if there weren't ulterior motives. Technically not genuinely slash, although Sherlock would have you believe it most certainly will lead down that path :)
A/N: Despite being in the process of writing four fics for
sherlockfest while also working on a novel I'm hoping to publish (if I ever actually finish the damn thing), I was viciously attacked by this plot bunny and couldn't stop myself. *sigh* This fandom is eating my brain.
Also, if this makes no sense whatsoever, I apologize in advance for writing & posting fic at two in the morning.

Being inherently easygoing, John Watson isn’t convinced his day can possibly deteriorate further as he drags himself up their seventeen steps. True, trepidation has become second nature since cohabiting with Sherlock, but by all that is holy, the doctor is confident the fates have already taken their fill of amusement at his sake.
Furthering his determination to take a positive outlook are the gentle wafts of sound that greet him when he opens the door to their sitting-room. His friend is sitting cross legged on his chair, eyes shut, charming a heavenly sonata out of his violin. Much better, John thinks, slumping down in the chair opposite. The music is lulling him into repose when it cuts off sharply.
“Get changed, we’re going out tonight.”
“Not moving… knackered,” he mumbles.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Tiredness is a state of mind that man can rise above. Anyway, I’m doing you a favor, it’d be rude not to go.”
John cracks open an eye, interest - rather, skepticism - piqued. “How so?”
“You’ll be pleased to hear I invited Sarah.”
Sherlock procures four tickets, evidence of his newfound generosity. This new side of his friend tugs at Johns heartstrings until he asks the fateful question of who the fourth ticket is for.
"Oh. I've asked Harry to come along. I'm taking you as my boyfriend."
Onward to Part II...
