This is a speech by the author Elizabeth Gilbert on creativity and artistic endeavors. In it she espouses a return to the ancient mystical or metaphysical conceptions of inspiration. This clip is a must see for anyone of a creative or artistic nature, and highly recommended for anyone with any spiritual or mystical leanings as well.
Yesterday evening I watched an episode of "Time Team" that showed some recreations of Celtic/Anglo-Saxon monastic scribal art. They created a leather-bound book with knotwork on the cover and inside it was a gorgeous illuminated carpet page and a family tree done in the style of the Book of Kells or the Lindisfarne Gospel.
