socialization
Hi. ...I'm not really sure what to say first- I feel somewhat guilty about abandoning LJ... but then again it looks like a lot of other people have also abandoned it in the past year or two. I understand- we grow up, we get a job, we have people IRL to spend time with, and any time left over we decide we'd rather spend on hobbies that we used to have before LJ took over our lives. (And I had some personal issues I needed to work through, alone.) But I've enjoyed spending the last year with good books/films/music, and now I feel like I ought to reconnect with this old part of me.
So I do plan to continue this journal, however infrequently. It may provide a more personal and sincere side to a travel blog I'm planning on doing... I don't know, I haven't got everything planned out. But I do know that the travel blog will be satirical, using (and delightfully abusing) the format of a travel diary I received for Christmas. It actually contains several pages of what is basically an informal check register, glorified in cursive script as if the things I buy overseas, and how much I paid for them, constituted an "important cultural experience" worthy of note in this dinky little notebook.

I think I'm arriving about 10-15 years too late.
