My vocational rehabilitation counselor called me this morning to let me know I can't get any aid from them for school because my GPA was too low and I failed my drug test. She didn't seem to care that much about the drug test because I told her I'd quit (which I am, you know, mostly). But WTF? Of course my GPA sucked, I had a fucking breakdown ( Read more... )

I know you're too smart not to have thought of this already, so there's practically no point asking, but is there anyway you can resit any of them to help out? Or can you appeal against that decision?

I'm really sorry to hear about this Melissa xx

I asked her and she said she'll keep my file open for a few months. If I take a class (I only need one class, it's so stupid...) and make a C or above and I can pass a new drug test, they'll let me back.

Hurray for help programs that exist only to help the people who don't need it :-/
Have you thought about taking online or through-the-mail courses? They're generally more relaxed, which might be enough to cut out the stress. Also, maybe a vocational school would be good right now. The classes i took at Sowela were a breeze...not every course will be so easy, but many are, and they're cheap as hell compared to universities. Plus, you can get your diploma/certificate/whatever in 2-3 years, and then find a job earning enough money to pay for the help you need.
Oh, and no, you're not the only nutjob. There's a reason i've never even attempted going to a university.
Do you still get on AIM?

I've thought about online courses, but I can't seem to get BRCC to send me a course guide for those. I talked to my voc rehab counselor and she said if I can raise my GPA (which would just require one class that I make a C or above in) and I pass a new drug test then I can come back. I checked out the prices at the community college and it's not that bad for one class. I still wouldn't be able to afford actually finishing a degree there on my own, though.

I periodically get on AIM for a few seconds to see if anyone's there, but no one ever is so I just sign out.
