no that's not a bad summary! it actually does make a lot of sense (though i won't pretend it made 100% sense because, well, dammit jim i'm a doctor economist not a linguist). the part that confused me was i guess, how would more specificity of an object show more specificity about what's going to happen involving it? would this be something like "that's a plan" vs "that's the plan", or?? okay, maybe that was 129% off because my understanding of a "noun phrase" is rusty (or non-existent, fml). but other than that i followed (yes even the part about mental spaces somehow??) so i think your explanation is nowhere near as bad or confusing as you think it is

yeah i thought the same. that wouldn't have worked nearly as well with like, japanese or something, lol. still, it made me wonder, what if instead of spending 3 years learning a language we just all got stuck in an emergency? would that do it? that's definitely not an experiment we should do tho
