ooh i see ... correct me if i'm way off the mark but the "the light" there establishes like, there's a definite place this is going on? and stuff that's going to be specific to it? like there's not just any light there, but a particular one? actually scratch that i think i may have fucked it up lol

i'm interested about this story. why is jae in the hospital? what is mary suellie's involvement?? curious minds must know!!!

yes np!!

past
fluent: estonian, english, russian, spanish
semi-fluent: swedish, romanian
bits and pieces: icelandic, finnish, german

current
fluent: estonian, english, spanish
bits and pieces: russian (altho thinking more about it, i guess romanian too)

hmm, i've actually not been in a situation where i needed the lost languages to revive? other than like, overhearing russians in brighton beach lol. so i have no idea. but i think you're probably right that i'd be able to understand, just not on the level i used to, and i don't know how much i'd be able to speak ... probably not much at all. :(

altho ... maybe this is similar to what you mean about languages appearing in situations where you need them? i was once in a semi-emergency situation where i needed to be able to communicate in french like, very, very quickly. so i absorbed basic conversational french like a sponge within 2 hours, became completely conversational within 5, then left france and forgot basically all of it. to this very day, i don't understand how that happened. it was freaky as fuck. i blame the fact that sometimes weird enhanced abilities kick in during an emergency??? like you just suddenly gain the skills you need out of necessity?? i don't know. i did a similar thing with romanian but that was 2 weeks so it wasn't nearly as weird.

i am so tl;dr lmao why

and yes i would be happy to let you bounce things off me! i think i'm a good person to do that

in that case, i anticipate "the" article about "the" article (is that what part of speech it is? i really don't know)

hmm that's interesting! maybe i'll try watching some russian films i used to like and see how much i follow them

yeah i thought the same. that wouldn't have worked nearly as well with like, japanese or something, lol. still, it made me wonder, what if instead of spending 3 years learning a language we just all got stuck in an emergency? would that do it? that's definitely not an experiment we should do tho
