Sometimes I think I'm a Genius

Jun 24, 2011 00:55

As some of you pointed out in your own LJs and/or twitters, there's a sentence-fic meme over in the Nick RPF comm (which I also just discovered exists. I joined. Fun times). I requested a Jerry/Jennette long!distance fic that was totally filled, and it was adorable and vaguely smutty, but I decided to fill my own prompt, which I'm sharing (plus at least like 6 other ones that are not long distance that I cranked out at work or some other time today). I think they're relatively good. But I always do. Here:

Jennette's fighting with her suitcase, trying to roll it down the hotel hallway, but it keeps getting caught, and she almost falls over once; the rest of her band are all tired and not talking, and she doesn't blame them, the clock said 4 AM when she got up, but they have to catch a flight, and she has to stay awake, and be conscious enough to navigate an airport after the car, so she digs her phone out of her pocket, and almost unconciously presses four on her speeddial, not caring about time differences, or that the sun isn't up yet, and then Jerry answers, his voice scruffy and half asleep, "Hello?" and she tells him, "Hey," trying not to yawn, and when he says "Hey, you," she can hear the smile in his voice, and she smiles back, his morning greeting washing over her so she feels like she's lying next to him, under his arm, under his covers, and she stays there until she's sitting on the airplane with her seatbelt on, a flight attendent telling her to turn off her phone.

"I miss you," Jerry says, and through the phone Jennette can almost smell the alcohol on his breath and the pot in the air; she hears Drake's voice in the background telling him to get off his damn phone, and Jerry asks when she's coming back, ignoring the slurring voices around him, and Jennette has to smile, because he sounds so hopeful, and she knows that no matter how many times he leaves to smoke and drink, he always ends the night curled up next to her.

There are curlers in her hair and a sparkling designer dress on a hanger next to her, and Jennette can't hear the make-up artist telling her to look up, or her agent asking her about soundcheck, because the text in front her says, "Maybe we can walk the carpet next year? Or the Oscars. Unless they need a ring on your finger. ... so, next year? :)" and she's so happy she's crying.

Jerry's hand is shaking as he tries for the fourteenth time to press "send" on his phone because he isn't sure, he's never sure where they are or what they are, but he misses her regardless, and when he finally manages to press the button, he hears Jennette's voice, happy and missing him too, and he doesn't care that he doesn't know.

Almost every day Jerry picks up his phone, and only gets halfway to dialing Jennette's number before his phone rings, a picture of Jennette blowing him a kiss popping up on his screen, and he laughs, because he's never been this crazy about anyone before, for this long.

--- (I put these first five on in the post, then I continued to work.)

Miranda doesn't even blink when she walks in on Jerry and Jennette their first day back for the fourth season during lunch, and when Jennette asks her about it later, blushing, Miranda just says, "It's not like I didn't already know, even if you weren't obvious. I have a knack for these things."

Jennette's shaking, scared and nervous, under the harsh flouresent lights of the doctor's office, but when Jerry walks in, looking rushed with his jacket lopsided and his hair only half-combed, he kisses her on the forehead, sits in the seat next to her, wraps his arm around her, and she's still scared and nervous, but she feels stronger.

They're on some daytime talk show being interviewed, all four of them, and Jennette's talking about Keith Urban again, but she doesn't say "future husband" or "crush," instead she says "country icon" and "great guy," and Jerry smiles so much it hurts as Jennette winks at him.

They've been planning this for months and months, it's the Oscars, and they get to walk the carpet together, as co-stars in a nominated film, but Jennette's breath still catches, and she still starts to cry, like she did the first time Jerry pulled her engagement ring out of his pocket and slipped it on her finger, because declaring it to the world is just as amazing as getting engaged in the first place.

Ellen is probably the best interview Jennette has ever had with the cast, but when she gives them all underwear and winks at her, glancing toward Jerry, all she can do is giggle as Miranda says a bemused thank you, Nathan comments on how he needed new underwear and Jerry covers his face with his hands in mock innocence, because Jerry has seen so, so much more than her underwear, and she's pretty sure Ellen knows that.

Dan walks in while Jerry is teasing Jennette's shirt off and she's unzipping his pants, taking up all of Jerry's couch space kissing, and he tells them to get a room, to which Jerry replies that they already have one, and Jennette laughs, and the entire moment should be ruined, but as the door clicks shut, she kisses him more fiercely, more turned on than ever.

Jerry has been trying for a very long time to make Jennette break character during a scene, and it's never worked - until he started to poke her, which led to a conversation where Jennette told him to stop touching her, which only led to more touching, a lot more intimate touching, and proud of himself, Jerry only smiles when Dan wants the two of them to work it into the episode.

Jerry traces his fingertips up and down Jennette's side, his other hand curled in her hair, and all Jennette can do is hold onto him as he kisses her slowly, and once she reaches the point where she's tingling in all the right places and her brain can't function, he pulls away, and it takes her two months of disappointing endings to realize he does it to protect them both.

And no, these are not the typical meme prompt sentence fics of the meme that got me working. But they are me, and they are Jerry/Jennette, and I think they are both adorable and kind of hilarious, while being suggestive. And I tried, I really tried to think of a smutty sentence fic, and I COULDN'T. So I put in another sentence fic prompt and I managed to come up with that last one, or last two, or three, and they're still not very smutty at all, but still. Whatever. Plus, most of these are really just full-fics that I've always wanted to write and never had time to, or just ideas and their future I'm anxious to see. Like Jennette being worried about getting breast cancer like her mom, and the two walking the red carpet together, and them staring in a movie (chick-flick/romantic interests, preferably), etc, etc.

DAY OFF TOMORROW! *dances* I have errands, but I need to freaking write like a mad woman. My Bromance plot has to be in by July 1st (I can get it done, I just wanted to have a sample of the POV and style by then, too. :( ) and in addition to that, my muse was actually working with me last night and I pretty much know how the next chapter and more of the entire story is going to go for my Jalex future-fic/verse, which is good, but of all times, right?

I also just finished watching Mulan and I could write like, a thesis paper on all that is good and right, and inspiring, and hopeful with that movie. Here's a sample: 1- Actual Strong Female lead Character, 2-Chinese characters actually have chinese facial structure 3- IT IS TOTALLY BASED OFF OF A LEGITIMATE CHINESE LEGEND. But then there's the fact that "I'll Make a Man Out of You" is sung by Donny Osmond, and I mean, he's amazing, but now I realize it, it just totally throws me off. It's bizarre.

Oh, and while I'm being random - the newest Wizards episode was pretty awesome, right? It's like changing ages is the new characters in bodies that are not their own thing or something. I also just love Jerry/Theresa things, or things that emphasize that they are in fact a couple, and teenage!Jerry/Theresa was adorable. I also really like what they're doing with the Mason and Alex plot, because Alex is really really mature about her relationships now, and like, she really is a great girlfriend to Mason, and she has grown so much through this relationship that I am actually okay that it ever happened. Although I'm not exactly going to complain if they really do break up in the next episode, which is hinted at, but probably will not happen.

disney - my happy place, fanfic manages my life, meme, jerryjennette - illegal? what?, bromance the novel, feminism - a lifestyle choice, random, jalex - so wrong it's right, writing - my whole world, movies, wizards of waverly place enchants me
