This week has been one of maintenance. On Wednesday, my teeth. The report is basically good. No new cavities, and the filling put in back in April looks good. I got my flu and Covid shots this evening --- the pharmacy also volunteered that they could hook me up with the chicken pox vaccination that I need since, again, despite being a child of the 70s and despite my three siblings all getting it, I've never had chicken pox --- and I expect to spend tomorrow being a cranky, aching potato. And in news close to home: I had my annual physical Wednesday. This was a bit awkwardly timed because it was in the early afternoon, and while I allotted two hours for it the doctor was running later than I expected and I didn't get through until 3 pm. porsupah has died.

Cancer, as she learned in November 2022. She'd seemed to be doing tolerably well, as reported. But the last few months had unexplained (to us, and apparently to her) bloating that seemed to go against the progress she'd been making. I forget whether it was late February or early March that she went to hospital, but the last week ( Read more... )

So I had my first colonoscopy. I'd like to tell you how it went, but thanks to the sedative and its memory-wiping compound, I don't know. All I know is I was on my side, being pleasant to the folks in the operating room and then I was in bed, in the recovery room, doing that thing where I figure I can sleep for ten more minutes, why not?

Another health update: I'm scheduled to have my first experience with anaesthesic. (So far as I know. The only emergency-room experience I ever had was as a toddler; I don't know what exactly happened there. bunny_hugger tested negative today, as we'd expected. We're both more than five days from the onset of symptoms and took our Paxlovid as prescribed. The only lingering symptom we have yet is coughing. I expect this is going to last a while; when I get a cold, I have a cough from it that lingers for about five years, so this should be fun.
