Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick / and think of you / caught up in circles confusion-- / is nothing new / Flashback--warm nights-- / almost left behind / suitcases of memories, / time after--
sometimes you picture me-- / I'm walking too far ahead / you're calling to me, I can't hear / what you've said-- / Then you say--go slow--/ I fall behind-- / the second hand unwinds
blarg it's been nearly a week since I last blogged... and tbh not a whole lot has happened...
Thursday was spent at home, mostly sleeping
Friday I went to town to do my biweekly sign on at the job centre (joy of joys) and then came home and went back over to town to get hold of a mascot for the Karate club... (I'll get some pictures later if i can)
Saturday was spent in very much the same manner as Thursday.
Sunday was the day of excitement, my Karate grading...
got there for about 1 and got changed into my gi, feeling increasingly nervous... there were only about fifty people there to grade and of those five were from my dojo (including myself).
oddly most of the people grading were going for yellow belt, there were only about nine of us going for belts higher than orange... needless to say it felt really weird to be an orange belt but up the senior end of the class...
After a strenuous warmup (something they love to do at gradings) it was time for the strikes, I feel I made a few mistakes but it all seemed to go pretty well. Then we went on to the blocks (without a drinks break as gradings are a fair bit more intense than ordinary lessons). After that we moved on to do a few stances... it was the stances I feel I did worst at, Sanchindatch is a horrible stance and I am terrible at it in my opinion... after this we had a short break to get drinks.
this break was very much needed as it was very hot in the hall. After the break it was time for Kata. Shodan first, at which I'm not sure I did so well, followed by Nidan (again I don't think I did a great job of), finally it was time for Saifa - my favourite kata. I feel I did a pretty good job at going through it.
After that we sat out and watched the one green belt and one blue belt do saifa once more, the the blue belt did bassai dai flanked by senseis.
during this break we got our mitts and pads on and then the real fun began - kumite, my favourite bit of Karate.
Since there were so few people of relevant standard present, it turned into Belts vs Senseis and was thoroughly enjoyable albeit very painful.
After about fifteen minutes of Kumite, we were ordered to take off our gear and line up.
it was time for the results to be announced.
Amazingly (to me at the time) I passed, as did just about everyone =D
I have a photo somewhere of the representatives of my club with our brand new green belts, I shall post that as soon as I find it...
After the results had been announced, we went through the traditional bow out and then headed home, jubilant.
unfortunately my good mood was cut short by the development of a severe migraine (hence why I hadn't blogged sooner) It was pretty debilitating and meant that I had to use sunglasses for the next twenty four hours...
thankfully as I write this, it has eased off, it still returns from time to time but nowhere near as powerful as it was before...
so yeah, this migraine has messed up my already derranged sleeping patterns, so I'm gonna go to bed now....
I may blog later today with the aforementioned photo
Love, Light and Peace
