I'm here and alive. There is no need to worry. Considering how often I check my friends page on here, you would think that I'd update more. But really - not too many exciting things have been occurring in my life.
Um.. still no word from Wheaton or Bridgewater but that's really ok. I'm not going to Bridgewater - I knew that even before I sent in my application. Quite simply, I'm not comfortable with the campus (a T-station runs straight through the middle and you need to cross the parking lot to get from east to west campus.) and a lot of violence was occurring there for a while and well.. I don't feel like dealing with that. I mean, I understand violence happens everywhere - but when there's three or so news stories set in the same location, it makes a girl a bit uneasy.
As far as Wheaton goes - I went back and forth over and over again. Yes, I love the campus - it's beautiful and if I can convince my significant other at the time of engagement, I will get married there. And yes, it does have an excellent writing program. However, it does not have education or dance as a major and that is what I have wanted to pursue for as long as I can remember. While both attending Wheaton and fulfilling a major in dance and education are all dreams of mine, I feel as though the education portion (the act of receiving degrees) is more important. With those degrees, I will be able to earn a living and that is what I will be doing the rest of my life. If I want to, later in life I can go back to Wheaton as a part-time student and take some writing courses. However, RIC does have a writing program (where you can earn your degree.. not just courses) and I will be taking that as a minor.
I have put a lot of thought into this decision. I have spoken with my friends, my mom, and my older sister about this decision and we have all come to the agreement that my attending RIC is the best choice for me. RIC is not a bad school, but quite the opposite - it's an excellent school for what I plan on attending it for. I am very excited to be going to college in mere months.
In other news
My dance studio is moving! It's quite a convenient change for my sister and I as it will be just seconds from our house. It is very exciting. The studio has been in the same location for the past 18 years and I am absolutely thrilled to know that we will have a bigger area in which to practice with the same type floor as a stage (this is good because we spend a lot of time on stage and it will make the transition easier - not like it's very difficult.. lol).
So yeah.. that's what's going on with me. I probably won't update for a while as is the case every time! Hope everyone is doing alright. Talk to you soon. :-)
